Speed on the slow side
Between four hundred and a thousand feet you're heavy, close to the ground and still carrying flap, and speed is the margin holding all three apart. Slow here doesn't feel like anything — the aeroplane climbs, the nose is up, nothing complains — right up until a turn, a gust or a bank tightens the wing's job and the margin is already gone. The fix is rarely "fly faster", it's lowering the nose a degree and letting the speed build before the next thing you do. Pitch buys altitude, speed buys options, and at this height options are the scarcer of the two.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 513 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 513 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 93 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 1.71 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The Kodiak 100 taxied from the parking area to runway 19 at AYPB Paiela Airport in a period of 4 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 19, the aircraft used 380 m of runway, representing 74 % of the available length, and achieved liftoff at 66 kt. Ambient conditions were 16 °C with a wind of 1 kt from 270°, a cross-wind component of 1 kt and no head-wind.
Climb commenced overhead AYPB Paiela Airport, Porgera (Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea), with the aircraft ascending from 6,479 ft asl to 7,218 ft asl, a gain of 739 ft achieved in 2 minutes while covering 3 nm.
Descent began 2 miles east of AYPB Paiela Airport, Porgera (Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea), with a reduction from 7,195 ft asl to 6,452 ft asl, a loss of 743 ft over 2 minutes and a distance of 4 nm.
The aircraft landed on runway 19 at AYPB Paiela Airport, whose length is 513 m. The threshold speed was recorded at 57 kt, slightly below the target, and touchdown occurred 91 m down the runway at 50 kt with a descent rate of minus 160 fpm; runway alignment at touchdown was perfect. Weather at the time was 15 °C with a wind of 1 kt from 270°, a cross-wind of 1 kt and no head-wind.
Rollout distance measured 243 m, representing 47 % of the runway, and the aircraft maintained perfect alignment throughout the rollout.
In total, the flight covered 8 nm, required 7 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 29 kg of fuel.
The aircraft crossed the runway threshold at a height described as good and reduced speed to 57 kt, noted as a little below the target speed for the approach.
Touchdown occurred 91 m down the runway at a speed of 50 kt, with a vertical rate of -160 fpm, both judged good, and the aircraft aligned perfectly with the runway centreline at touchdown.
The total landing roll measured 243 m, representing 47 % of the 513 m runway, and the rollout alignment remained perfect throughout.
Maintain the excellent alignment and rate while adjusting the threshold speed to meet the target value, ensuring the approach remains within the desired speed envelope.
