Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,779 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 328 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Airbus A320 Neo began with a 7-minute taxi from the parking area to the runway, covering 2 nm. The departure roll took place on runway 21 at ESGG Landvetter, with a takeoff distance of 1,092 m, representing 33% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 149 kn, with local weather conditions showing a temperature of 15 °C and wind speed of 10 kn at 200 °, resulting in a 1 kn crosswind and 10 kn headwind during takeoff.
The enroute climb commenced overhead ESGG Landvetter Goteborg, ascending from 1,501 ft asl to 35,815 ft asl, covering 134 nm in 22 minutes. The enroute level cruise started 2 miles north of Fosser in Norway and lasted 39 minutes, covering 328 nm.
The descent phase began 1 mile northeast of Vik in Norway, descending from 35,456 ft asl to 2,193 ft asl, covering 122 nm in 27 minutes. Another brief enroute level cruise followed, starting 9 miles west of ENBO Bodo and lasting 5 minutes, covering 3 nm.
The landing occurred on runway 07 at ENBO Bodo, with a runway length of 2,779 m. The aircraft approached with a height of 38 ft agl and a speed of 135 kn at threshold. The touchdown took place 329 m from the threshold, with a touchdown speed of 132 kn and a VSI reading of -308 ft/m. Local weather conditions showed a temperature of 13 °C and wind speed of 11 kn at 120 °, resulting in a 7 kn crosswind and 8 kn headwind during landing.
The total landing distance covered was 951 m, representing 34% of the runway length. Following the landing, a 1-minute taxi was conducted from the runway to the parking area, covering less than 1 nm. The total flight distance for the journey was 595 nm, with a total flight time of 110 minutes and fuel consumption of 3,355 kg.
Congratulations on achieving an impressive aircraft landing score of 98.2%! It is clear that there were several key areas where the performance was exceptional.
During the Approach Phase, the aircraft demonstrated excellent glideslope alignment, indicating a precise and well-controlled descent towards the runway. This suggests a high level of skill and proficiency in managing the aircraft's approach trajectory.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, it is evident that there was a good threshold height and a great landing flare. This is essential for achieving a smooth and controlled touchdown, as well as ensuring a safe and stable landing. The pilot's ability to properly manage the aircraft during this phase reflects a strong understanding of landing techniques and procedures.
In the Touchdown Phase, the touchdown rate was noted to be hard, but the speed was on target. Despite the firm touchdown, the fact that the speed was maintained within the appropriate range demonstrates a good control of the aircraft's descent. Additionally, the touchdown distance inside the touchdown zone and the runway touchdown position being only 4.9m from the centerline indicates accuracy and precision in touchdown location.
Finally, in the Rollout Phase, the runway alignment was specified to be 4.5m from the centerline. Maintaining proper alignment during rollout is important for ensuring the safe and efficient exit from the runway. The pilot's ability to achieve this level of accuracy further highlights their strong piloting skills and attention to detail.
Overall, your performance during the aircraft landing was commendable, showcasing a high level of proficiency and precision throughout each phase of the landing process. Keep up the great work, and continue to strive for excellence in your future flights. Your dedication to mastering the art of aircraft landing is truly paying off!
