Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
At the 500 ft gate: off the centreline.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,205 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 762 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A320 took off from runway 08 at SBJE Polo Turistico De Jericoacoara, a small airport in Ceara, Brazil. The aircraft had a takeoff distance of 715 meters, which is 32% of the runway length. With a liftoff speed of 151 knots, the aircraft began its ascent into the sky. The local weather conditions were warm, with a temperature of 27°C, and a moderate wind blowing at 15 knots from a direction of 86 degrees.
During the enroute climb, the aircraft ascended from 1,134 feet above sea level to 2,124 feet above sea level, an increase of 990 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The climb was smooth and efficient, with the aircraft reaching its cruise altitude in a short period.
As the aircraft reached its cruising altitude, it began its descent, starting 2 miles northwest of the airport. The descent was steep, with the aircraft descending from 2,056 feet above sea level to 647 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,409 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 08 was made from the southwest, with the aircraft heading 66.0 degrees and flying at an altitude of 548 feet above ground level. The approach was smooth, with the aircraft touching down on the runway with a speed of 108 knots, which was good.
The touchdown point was 319 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly beyond the target. The touchdown speed was good, and the touchdown rate was excellent at -95 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.5 meters from the centerline.
The total landing distance was 1,357 meters, which is 62% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 9.4 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions were warm, with a temperature of 28°C, and a moderate wind blowing at 15 knots from a direction of 86 degrees.
Overall, the flight was smooth and efficient, with the aircraft performing well throughout the takeoff, climb, and landing phases. The total flight distance was 7 nautical miles, and the aircraft used 7,444 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at SBJE Polo Turistico De Jericoacoara, achieving a score of 92.4%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 66.0° at 2 nautical miles and 548 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 08, which has a length of 2,205 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 319 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a speed of 108 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was excellent at -95 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 9.5 meters, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 28°C and a wind speed of 15 knots at 86°. The crosswind component was minimal at 6 knots, while the headwind component was 14 knots, which may have contributed to the slight misalignment of the touchdown position.
The total landing distance was 1,357 meters, which accounted for 62% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centerline by 9.4 meters, which may have been due to the same factors that contributed to the initial touchdown position misalignment.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with a good touchdown speed and excellent touchdown rate. However, the slight misalignment of the touchdown position and rollout alignment may indicate areas for improvement in terms of pilot technique or aircraft performance.
