MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 500 ft gate: off the centreline.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,292 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 749 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 08 at NTTP Maupiti Airport, where the aircraft, a PC-12, took off with a takeoff distance of 459 meters, which was 50% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 95 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 11 knots at 69 degrees, resulting in a 4-knot crosswind and an 11-knot headwind.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile east of NTTP Maupiti Airport, rising from an altitude of 579 feet above sea level to 30,175 feet above sea level, an increase of 29,596 feet in 31 minutes, covering a distance of 112 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started 92 miles northwest of NTTP Maupiti Airport and lasted for 408 minutes, covering a distance of 213 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its first enroute descent at a latitude of -12.3304173 and longitude of -155.3463838, descending from 30,183 feet above sea level to 24,369 feet above sea level, a decrease of 5,814 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 24 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started again at a latitude of -12.0228586 and longitude of -155.6030435 and lasted for 65 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The aircraft then began its second enroute descent at the same latitude and longitude, descending from 24,369 feet above sea level to 15,576 feet above sea level, a decrease of 8,793 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 28 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started again at a latitude of -11.6587232 and longitude of -155.9059326 and lasted for 38 minutes, covering a distance of 146 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final enroute descent 56 miles southeast of NCPY Tongareva Airport, Penrhyn Island, Cook Islands, descending from 15,538 feet above sea level to 1,460 feet above sea level, a decrease of 14,078 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 49 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 32 at NCPY Tongareva Airport from the southeast, heading 332.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,016 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 32 at NCPY Tongareva Airport, which had a length of 2,292 meters, was characterized by a threshold height that was significantly above the target, but a threshold speed that was good at 85 knots. The touchdown point was 273 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 71 knots, which was good, but a touchdown rate of -287 feet per minute, which was fair. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 11.1 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 13 knots at 80 degrees, resulting in a 12-knot crosswind and a 4-knot tailwind. The total landing distance was 868 meters, which was 38% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.3 meters from the centerline.
In total, the flight covered a distance of 581 nautical miles, taking 174 minutes, and used 518 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft in question is a PC-12, which successfully landed at NCPY Tongareva Airport on runway 32. The final approach was initiated from the southeast, heading 332.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,016 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot's performance during the approach and landing was evaluated, and the results showed a score of 76.0%.
One of the notable aspects of this landing was the final approach to the runway. The threshold height, which is the height at which the aircraft should touch down, was significantly above the target height. However, the threshold speed, which is the speed at which the aircraft should touch down, was good at 85 knots. This suggests that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft and was on track to make a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was 71 knots, which was good. However, the touchdown rate, which is the rate at which the aircraft descends to the ground, was fair at -287 feet per minute (fpm). This indicates that the pilot could have done a better job of controlling the aircraft's descent rate.
In terms of the landing distance, the aircraft traveled a total of 868 meters, which is 38% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop quickly and safely.
However, there were some issues with the alignment of the aircraft during the landing. The touchdown point was 273 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 11.1 meters from the centerline. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.3 meters from the centerline. These misalignments suggest that the pilot may have had some difficulty controlling the aircraft's direction during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were also taken into account. The temperature was 27°C, and the wind was blowing at 13 knots from a direction of 80°. This resulted in a crosswind of 12 knots and a tailwind of 4 knots. Despite these challenging weather conditions, the pilot was able to make a safe landing.
Overall, while there were some issues with the alignment of the aircraft during the landing, the pilot's performance was generally good, and the landing was considered safe.
