Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,630 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,630 ft of the 11,637 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,512 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a FNX320_TCACFM, then departed from runway 25R at KDAB Daytona Beach International Airport. The takeoff distance was 4,931 feet, which was 50% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 155 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 59°F and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 190°. The crosswind component was 2 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile southwest of KDAB Daytona Beach International Airport. The climb took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 54 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,055 feet above sea level to 24,830 feet above sea level, an increase of 23,775 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, starting overhead 21FA Rockledge Airport. This phase lasted for 7 minutes and covered a distance of 50 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 2 miles northwest of FD57 Baggett STOLport. The descent took 32 minutes and covered a distance of 107 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 24,919 feet above sea level to 1,518 feet above sea level, a decrease of 23,401 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 11 miles northwest of FA35 Lindbergh's Landing Airport. This phase lasted for 7 minutes and covered a distance of 16 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 09 at KMIA Miami International Airport, approaching from the west at a heading of 87.0°. The aircraft was at an altitude of 1,247 feet above ground level and 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 09 at KMIA Miami International Airport was successful, with the touchdown point being 169 feet beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 136 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was firm at -339 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 63°F.
The total landing distance was 5,387 feet, which was 46% of the runway length. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 6 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 236 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 70 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 5,482 pounds of fuel during the flight.
Aircraft FNX320_TCACFM successfully landed at KMIA Miami International Airport, achieving a score of 93.1%. The final approach to runway 09 was initiated from the west, with a heading of 87.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,247 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway, which has a length of 11,637 feet. The threshold height at 68 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than desired at the point of touchdown. However, the threshold speed of 142 knots was only slightly above the target, suggesting that the aircraft was not excessively fast at the point of touchdown.
The touchdown point was located 169 feet beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 136 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -339 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, indicating a controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway at the point of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 63°F, which is relatively mild. The total landing distance of 5,387 feet was 46% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good control and precision during the approach and touchdown phases.
