Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
At the 1,000 ft gate: centreline 1.1° off, against a 1° limit.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,946 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 338 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Vitoria Airport (LEVT), the Black Square Caravan Professional Amphibian N511KG began its journey with a taxiing period of 9 minutes, covering 2 nautical miles to reach the runway. Runway 04 was selected for departure, and the aircraft lifted off after a takeoff distance of 715 meters, which accounted for 20% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 72 knots, achieved in the local weather conditions of 22°C temperature and 8-knot wind at 100°.
As the aircraft climbed away from Vitoria, it began its enroute climb 1 mile northeast of the airport, reaching an altitude of 11,507 feet above sea level in 13 minutes, covering 28 nautical miles. The climb was followed by a brief level cruise 1 mile north of Echarri-Aranaz, lasting 3 minutes and covering 10 nautical miles. The aircraft then climbed again, this time from 11,521 feet to 13,234 feet in 3 minutes, covering 9 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise that followed, starting 7 miles west of Erroibar, lasted 45 minutes and covered 133 nautical miles. As the aircraft began its descent overhead Le Fossat, it descended from 13,390 feet to 1,676 feet in 15 minutes, covering 36 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 09 at Carcassonne Airport (LFMK) was made from the west, with a heading of 99.0° at 3 nautical miles and 1,254 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown point 194 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 73 knots, and the touchdown rate was an excellent -99 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.5 meters from the centerline. The total landing distance was 781 meters, accounting for 44% of the runway. After a taxiing period of 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile, the aircraft came to a stop at the parking area. The total flight distance was 224 nautical miles, taking 94 minutes, and the aircraft used 230 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft, Black Square Caravan Professional Amphibian N511KG, successfully executed a final approach to runway 09 at LFMK Carcassonne Airport from the west, aligning with the runway at 3 nm and 1,254 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a heading of 99.0° and a good threshold height. The threshold speed was also within acceptable limits at 75 kt, indicating a well-controlled descent.
As the aircraft touched down on the runway, the touchdown speed of 73 kt was good, and the touchdown rate of -99 fpm was excellent, demonstrating a smooth and controlled landing. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.5 m from the centreline, which may be attributed to the crosswind component of 6 kt. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 20 °C and a wind speed of 21 kt at 80°, may have contributed to this slight deviation.
The total landing distance of 781 m, accounting for 44% of the runway length, was within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a well-controlled and stable aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing performance of Black Square Caravan Professional Amphibian N511KG scored 97.0%, reflecting a high level of proficiency and control during the approach, touchdown, and rollout phases.
