Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,357 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 370 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A321 taxied from the parking area to runway 17R at KDFW Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in less than 1 minute, covering less than 1 nm.
The aircraft commenced its departure roll on runway 17R, employing a takeoff distance of 2,803 m (69 % of the runway). Liftoff was achieved at 177 kt. Local weather reported a temperature of 31 °C, wind 8 kt from 70°, an 8 kt crosswind component and a 3 kt tailwind component.
Climb began approximately 1 mile south of KDFW, with the airplane ascending from 1,483 ft asl to 33,008 ft asl, a gain of 31,525 ft in 38 minutes while covering 267 nm.
Level cruise was established 4 miles southeast of Columbia, Louisiana, and persisted for 60 minutes, during which the aircraft traversed 455 nm.
Descent was initiated 15 miles west of 6FL4 Sylvanmir Farms Airport, Keaton Beach, Florida, with a reduction from 32,688 ft asl to 1,286 ft asl, a loss of 31,402 ft in 22 minutes, covering 132 nm.
The final approach to runway 19R at KTPA Tampa International Airport was conducted from the north on a heading of 182.0°, at 4 nm and 1,258 ft agl. Local weather indicated a temperature of 29 °C, wind 6 kt from 115°, a 5 kt crosswind component and a 2 kt headwind component.
The Airbus A321 touched down on runway 19R, whose length is 3,357 m, with a threshold speed of 145 kt. Touchdown occurred at 141 kt, 370 m from the threshold, and a vertical rate of minus 166 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The total landing roll measured 1,142 m, representing 34 % of the runway, and rollout alignment was assessed as very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
Overall, the flight covered 861 nm, required 128 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 7,130 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A321 completed a final approach to runway 19R at KTPA Tampa International Airport with a score of 99.8 %. The aircraft was aligned on a heading of 182.0° from the north, 4 nm out and 1,258 ft above ground level, while local weather reported a temperature of 29 °C and wind 6 kt from 115°, providing a 5 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind component.
At threshold the aircraft maintained a good height and established a threshold speed that was good at 145 kt.
Touchdown occurred 370 m down the runway, a distance described as good, with a touchdown speed of 141 kt that was a little fast. The vertical speed at touchdown was good at minus 166 fpm, and runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The total landing distance measured 1,142 m, representing 34 % of the 3,357 m runway length.
Rollout alignment was very good, keeping the aircraft centered on the runway centreline through the deceleration phase.
To refine the already excellent performance, reduce the touchdown speed slightly to bring it within the optimal range, as the 141 kt speed was noted as a little fast. Maintaining the current alignment and rate will preserve the high score while improving safety margins.
