MY FS FLIGHTS

Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,525 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,525 m of the 3,881 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 651 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 777-300ER taxied from the parking area to runway 32L at WMKK Kuala Lumpur International Airport in 12 minutes, covering 6 nm on the ground.
During the departure roll on runway 32L, the aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 203 kt and left the runway after traveling 2,281 m, which represented 56 % of the available length. Ambient conditions were 31 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 026°, including a 2 kt cross-wind component and a 1 kt head-wind component.
The climb commenced overhead WMKK, climbing from 1,070 ft asl to 34,361 ft asl, an altitude gain of 33,291 ft achieved in 23 minutes while covering 157 nm.
Cruise began 1 mile west of Woodlands, Singapore, and was maintained for 402 minutes, during which the aircraft flew 3,442 nm at level flight.
Descent started 7 miles east of Taralga, New South Wales, with the aircraft descending from 32,076 ft asl to 1,271 ft asl, a loss of 30,805 ft in 22 minutes while traversing 122 nm.
On final approach to runway 16R at YSSY Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport, the aircraft descended from 1,300 ft agl to 72 ft agl in 99 seconds and scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing on runway 16R was executed with a threshold speed of 152 kt; the touchdown point occurred 240 m beyond the touchdown zone, and the aircraft touched down at 146 kt with a smooth rate of minus 114 fpm. The touchdown was slightly misaligned by 4.0 m from the centreline, and the threshold height at 57 ft agl was marginally above target. Local weather reported 17 °C with a wind of 8 kt from 180°, a 2 kt cross-wind and an 8 kt head-wind. The total landing roll measured 1,449 m, representing 37 % of the runway length.
Runway rollout alignment was assessed as very good, confirming the aircraft remained on the centreline during deceleration.
After landing, the aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 3,735 nm, required 466 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 68,778 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 777-300ER conducted the final approach to runway 16R at YSSY Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport and was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits. The aircraft descended from 1,300 ft agl to 72 ft agl in 99 seconds and earned full marks on the stabilisation gates.
At the threshold the height of 57 ft agl was slightly above target while the threshold speed of 152 kt was recorded as good. The flare was executed from this altitude and speed before touchdown.
Touchdown occurred 240 m beyond the touchdown zone with a speed of 146 kt, which was judged good, and a smooth vertical rate of -114 fpm. The touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 4.0 m from the centreline.
The aircraft rolled out over a total landing distance of 1,449 m, representing 37 % of the 3,881 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was very good. Local weather was 17 °C with an 8 kt wind from 180°, including a 2 kt crosswind and an 8 kt headwind.
Minor refinements should focus on achieving the aim point nearer the intended 300 m (1,000 ft) mark to reduce the 240 m overshoot, and on tightening centreline alignment to eliminate the 4.0 m offset observed at touchdown.
