MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,074 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 354 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A319 then departed from runway 08 at EGJJ Jersey Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,126 meters, which accounted for 73% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 144 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 23°C temperature and winds of 8 knots at 303 degrees. The crosswind was 5 knots, while the tailwind was 6 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile east of EGJJ Jersey Airport, Saint Helier, and involved a significant ascent from 1,117 feet above sea level to 26,927 feet above sea level, an increase of 25,810 feet in just 11 minutes, covering a distance of 57 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 25 miles north of Saint-Germain-des-Vaux, Normandie, France, and saw the aircraft descend from 26,927 feet to 19,014 feet above sea level, a decrease of 7,912 feet in 5 minutes, covering 30 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise, lasting 7 minutes and covering 41 nautical miles, starting 4 miles south of Niton, Isle of Wight, England.
The enroute descent started overhead Plaistow, West Sussex, England, and involved a significant descent from 19,027 feet to 8,419 feet above sea level, a decrease of 10,608 feet in 13 minutes, covering 64 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise, lasting 13 minutes and covering 22 nautical miles, starting overhead Saffron Walden, Essex, England.
The enroute descent started 1 mile south east of Great Paxton, Cambridgeshire, England, and saw the aircraft descend from 8,179 feet to 4,959 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,220 feet in 3 minutes, covering 12 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise, lasting 5 minutes and covering 19 nautical miles, starting overhead Henlow, Central Bedfordshire, England.
The final enroute descent started overhead Wingrave, Buckinghamshire, England, and involved a descent from 4,920 feet to 1,815 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,104 feet in 4 minutes, covering 10 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 07 at EGGW London Luton Airport, coming in from the west at a heading of 74.0 degrees and 4 nautical miles from the airport.
The landing on runway 07 at EGGW London Luton Airport, which had a length of 2,074 meters, was successful, with the threshold height being slightly above target and the threshold speed being well above target at 141 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 358 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 136 knots, and the touchdown rate was very hard at -559 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions were 20°C temperature and winds of 17 knots at 40 degrees.
The crosswind was 10 knots, while the headwind was 14 knots. The total landing distance was 1,379 meters, which accounted for 66% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The total flight distance was 261 nautical miles, taking 67 minutes, and the aircraft used 2,390 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A319 aircraft successfully landed at EGGW London Luton Airport, achieving a score of 94.7%. The final approach to runway 07 was initiated from the west, with a heading of 74.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,291 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was well-executed, with a touchdown distance of 358 meters, which is considered good.
However, there were a few areas where the landing could be improved. The threshold height at 59 feet agl was slightly above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high on its approach. Additionally, the threshold speed was well above the target at 141 knots, suggesting that the aircraft may have been descending too quickly. The touchdown speed of 136 knots was also a little fast, which could have contributed to the hard touchdown rate of -559 feet per minute (fpm).
Despite these minor issues, the aircraft's runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 20°C and a moderate headwind of 14 knots. The crosswind component was relatively low at 10 knots, which made the landing even more manageable. The total landing distance of 1,379 meters was 66% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively, allowing the aircraft to come to a stop in a controlled manner. Overall, the landing was a success, and with a few minor adjustments to the approach and touchdown speed, the aircraft could achieve an even higher score.
