Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,617 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 676 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking to the runway at Paderborn Lippstadt Airport, which took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 24 and took off with a takeoff distance of 139 meters, which was 6% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 150 knots.
As the aircraft climbed to a height of 34,858 feet, it encountered local weather conditions of a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 19 knots at 140 degrees. The crosswind was 19 knots, while the tailwind was 2 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile south-west of the airport and covered a distance of 137 nautical miles in 24 minutes, with an increase in altitude of 33,108 feet.
After reaching the cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile north of Marken in the Netherlands and lasted for 36 minutes, covering a distance of 265 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from a height of 35,023 feet to 23,402 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 37 nautical miles.
The aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which started 3 miles north-west of Formby in England and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. However, this was followed by a descent from a height of 23,152 feet to 17,698 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 18 miles north of Llandudno in Wales and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 50 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent from a height of 17,358 feet to 3,909 feet in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 41 nautical miles.
The aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which started 2 miles south-east of Kentstown in Ireland and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. However, this was followed by a descent from a height of 3,916 feet to 1,728 feet in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 10R at Dublin Airport was made from the west, with a heading of 94.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,500 feet above ground level. The landing was made on the runway, which had a length of 2,617 meters. The threshold height was above the target, while the threshold speed was well above the target at 154 knots.
The touchdown point was 258 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 137 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -255 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 15.9 meters from the centreline. The local weather conditions were a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 19 knots at 140 degrees, with a crosswind of 13 knots and a headwind of 14 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,130 meters, which was 43% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 15.9 meters from the centreline. The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 581 nautical miles, which was covered in 101 minutes, and the aircraft used 5,287 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed on runway 10R at Dublin Airport (EIDW), but the landing was not without its challenges. The final approach was initiated from the west, heading 94.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,500 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, but the touchdown point was 258 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot.
The touchdown speed of 137 knots was slightly above the target speed, which may have contributed to the deviation from the touchdown zone. The touchdown rate of -255 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft was able to slow down relatively quickly after touchdown. However, the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 15.9 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the crosswind or headwind conditions.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C and winds of 19 knots at 140°. The crosswind component was 13 knots, while the headwind component was 14 knots. These conditions may have affected the aircraft's alignment and touchdown point. The total landing distance of 1,130 meters was 43% of the runway length, which is relatively short considering the aircraft's size and weight.
The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 15.9 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to the same factors that contributed to the initial touchdown point deviation. Overall, while the landing was successful, there were several areas for improvement, including the touchdown speed, touchdown point, and runway alignment.
