Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 2,001 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,001 m of the 3,002 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 834 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300, then departed from runway 18L at Beijing Capital International Airport (ZBAA). The takeoff distance was 2,152 meters, which accounted for 57% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 195 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 13°C, with a wind speed of 10 knots at 169°.
As the aircraft climbed out of Beijing, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile south of the airport. The climb took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 103 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,122 feet above sea level to 28,816 feet above sea level, an increase of 27,693 feet. The enroute level cruise then began 36 miles south of Zhangjiakou Shi Xuanhua Qu, and lasted for 59 minutes, covering a distance of 416 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from 28,791 feet above sea level to 30,722 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,931 feet, in just 3 minutes and covering a distance of 24 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then resumed 4 miles south east of Tohom, and lasted for 189 minutes, covering a distance of 1,319 nautical miles.

The final approach to runway 32R at Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport was made from the south east, with a heading of 322.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,208 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown point 411 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 123 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was excellent at -80 feet per minute.
The total landing distance was 1,913 meters, which accounted for 64% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles.

The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at LEMD Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport, with a final approach score of 93.8%. The aircraft was approaching runway 32R from the southeast, heading 322.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,208 feet above ground level.
The landing was executed smoothly, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 144 knots. The touchdown point was 411 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is slightly off-center but still within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 123 knots was also good, indicating a controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -80 feet per minute was excellent, demonstrating a high degree of precision and control.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 5°C and a wind speed of 5 knots from 340°. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 5 knots, which did not significantly impact the landing. The runway length of 3,002 meters was sufficient to accommodate the aircraft's landing distance of 1,913 meters, which is 64% of the runway length.
The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively, and the aircraft was brought to a stop without any issues. Overall, the landing was a success, with the aircraft touching down safely and efficiently.
