Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,925 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 567 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking to the runway at Watson Lake Airport, taking 4 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a TBM 850, then departed from runway 09, with a takeoff distance of 691 meters, which was 41% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 98 knots, and the local weather conditions were a temperature of -8°C, with a wind of 7 knots at 59°.
As the aircraft climbed away from Watson Lake, it reached a height of 3,604 feet above sea level, an increase of 148 feet in less than 1 minute, covering 1 nautical mile. The enroute level cruise started 1 mile northeast of Watson Lake and lasted 5 minutes, covering 17 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, dropping from 3,711 feet to 2,545 feet in 3 minutes, covering 9 nautical miles.
The flight continued with several enroute level cruises and climbs, with notable climbs from 3,334 feet to 4,502 feet in 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles, and from 3,699 feet to 6,668 feet in 3 minutes, covering 14 nautical miles. The aircraft also experienced several descents, including a drop from 6,847 feet to 4,933 feet in 3 minutes, covering 15 nautical miles.
As the flight approached its destination, Fort Nelson Airport, the aircraft began its final approach to runway 04 from the southwest, heading 53.0° at 3 nautical miles and 843 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 04, which was 1,925 meters long, with a good threshold height. The threshold speed was well above target at 75 knots, and the touchdown point was 126 meters beyond the touchdown zone.
The touchdown speed was a little fast at 66 knots, but the touchdown rate was good at -156 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 7.2 meters from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 14.0 meters from the centreline. The total landing distance was 735 meters, which was 38% of the runway length.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking, taking 2 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 207 nautical miles, taking 65 minutes, and the aircraft used 180 kilograms of fuel.
The TBM 850 aircraft successfully landed at CYYE Fort Nelson Airport, achieving a score of 89.7%. The final approach was conducted from the southwest, heading 53.0° at 3 nautical miles and 843 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 04, which has a length of 1,925 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was above the target speed of 75 kt. This indicates that the aircraft may have been slightly high or fast on final approach. The touchdown point was 126 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which suggests that the aircraft may have been slightly long on landing. The touchdown speed of 66 kt was also a little fast, which could have contributed to the long touchdown point.
The touchdown rate of -156 feet per minute (fpm) was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was able to slow down quickly and safely after touchdown. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 7.2 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's approach path.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were reported as a temperature of -7°C, which may have affected the aircraft's performance and handling characteristics. The total landing distance was 735 meters, which is 38% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to slow down quickly and safely after touchdown.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned by 14.0 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's direction after touchdown. Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some minor deviations from the ideal approach and landing path.
