Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,505 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,505 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 490 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 35 at SLIX Ixiamas Airport. The TBM 850 aircraft accelerated down the runway, covering a distance of 484 meters, which accounted for 22% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was achieved at 104 knots, marking the start of the takeoff phase.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it encountered local weather conditions of 16°C temperature and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°. The crosswind component was 1 knot, while the headwind component was negligible. The enroute climb started approximately 1 mile north of the airport, where the aircraft ascended from an initial altitude of 1,301 feet above sea level to 9,415 feet above sea level, a vertical gain of 8,114 feet. This climb phase lasted for 8 minutes and covered a distance of 24 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began 23 miles southwest of SLRE Rurrenabaque Airport. This phase lasted for 4 minutes and covered a distance of 18 nautical miles. The aircraft then commenced its descent, starting 17 miles north of SLAP Apolo Airport. The descent phase saw the aircraft drop from 10,022 feet above sea level to 5,892 feet above sea level, a vertical loss of 4,131 feet. This phase lasted for 5 minutes and covered a distance of 14 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 18 at SLAP Apolo Airport was initiated from the north, with the aircraft heading 170.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,283 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 18, which had a length of 1,505 meters. The threshold height was slightly above the target, while the threshold speed was too high at 84 knots. The touchdown point was 58 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 76 knots, which was faster than desired. The touchdown rate was firm at -367 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.9 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.7 meters from the centerline. The total landing distance was 1,008 meters, accounting for 67% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were the same as during the takeoff, with a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from 269°.
The total flight distance was 62 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 23 minutes. The aircraft used 61 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The TBM 850 aircraft successfully landed at SLAP Apolo Airport, but with some notable deviations from the ideal approach and landing parameters. The final approach was initiated from the north, heading 170.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,283 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 18, which has a length of 1,505 meters.
However, there were some discrepancies in the approach and landing parameters. The threshold height at 56 feet agl was slightly above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly high on its approach. Additionally, the threshold speed was too high at 84 knots, which could have contributed to the aircraft's fast touchdown speed of 76 knots. The touchdown rate was firm at -367 feet per minute (fpm), which is within the acceptable range.
The touchdown point was 58 meters beyond the touchdown zone, indicating that the aircraft may have overrun the designated landing area. Furthermore, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.9 meters from the centerline, which could have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's alignment during the approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 16°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from 269°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, and there was no headwind component. The total landing distance was 1,008 meters, which is 67% of the runway length.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned by 10.7 meters from the centerline, which could have been due to the aircraft's initial misalignment during the touchdown. Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some notable deviations from the ideal approach and landing parameters that could be addressed in future training and operations.
