MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,894 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 318 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The 2.37 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A320 taxied from the parking area to runway 23R at EGCC Manchester Airport in 4 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 23R, the aircraft used 1,793 m of runway, representing 63 % of the available length, and lifted off at 154 kt. Ambient conditions were 15 °C with a wind of 5 kt from 132°, a cross-wind component of 5 kt and a tail-wind component of 1 kt.
Climb commenced approximately 1 mile north of Mobberley, Cheshire East, and the aircraft ascended from 1,179 ft asl to 33,944 ft asl, a gain of 32,766 ft in 17 minutes while covering 102 nm.
Cruise began overhead East Keal, Lincolnshire, and was sustained for 402 minutes, during which the flight covered 2,943 nm.
Descent was initiated 17 miles west of OIBK Kish International Airport, Kish Island, and the aircraft descended from 33,944 ft asl to 1,314 ft asl, a loss of 32,630 ft in 22 minutes, traversing 116 nm.
The final approach to runway 12L at OMDB Dubai International Airport was flown from the north-west on a heading of 122.0°, intercepting the glide path at 4 nm and 1,276 ft agl.
Landing on runway 12L, which is 3,894 m long, occurred with a threshold speed of 142 kt, a touchdown distance of 279 m, a touchdown speed of 138 kt, and a heavy touchdown rate of minus 680 fpm; the touchdown point was offset 3.7 m from the centreline. Weather at the time was 15 °C with a wind of 5 kt from 132°, a cross-wind component of 1 kt and a head-wind component of 5 kt. The total landing distance measured 1,084 m, equivalent to 28 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was reported as very good, and the aircraft came to a stop within the expected distance.
After landing, the aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 5 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 3,168 nm, required 453 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 21,145 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A320 entered the final approach to runway 12L at OMDB Dubai International Airport from the north-west, flying a heading of 122.0 ° at 4 nm and 1,276 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
At threshold the aircraft was above the target speed, recording a threshold speed of 142 kt. The touchdown point was 279 m down the runway, and the aircraft crossed the threshold with a speed of 138 kt, which was fast. The touchdown rate was heavy at minus 680 fpm and the touchdown position was slightly off centreline by 3.7 m, although the threshold height was reported as good.
The landing continued with a heavy touchdown rate of minus 680 fpm and a speed of 138 kt, confirming the fast touchdown noted at threshold. Alignment at touchdown remained close to centreline, deviating only 3.7 m, and the aircraft proceeded to decelerate along the runway.
Rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,084 m, representing 28 % of the 3,894 m runway, and the runway rollout alignment was very good.
To improve the 85.3 % score, reduce the threshold speed toward the target value and manage the descent to achieve a lighter touchdown rate, which will also help maintain optimal alignment throughout the roll-out.
