Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,026 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 253 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-MAX8, then departed from runway 26R at KLAS Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada. The takeoff distance was 26 meters, which accounted for 1% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 150 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Las Vegas, it encountered local weather conditions of 14°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 150°. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the tailwind was 1 knot. The enroute climb started overhead the airport, with the aircraft ascending from 3,175 feet above sea level to 11,492 feet above sea level, an increase of 8,317 feet in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 7 miles southwest of Enterprise, Nevada, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. However, the aircraft soon began another climb, this time from 12,406 feet above sea level to 29,809 feet above sea level, an increase of 17,404 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 50 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise resumed 8 miles southeast of Baker, California, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 10 nautical miles.
As the aircraft continued its journey, it began a descent from 30,025 feet above sea level to 25,097 feet above sea level, a decrease of 4,928 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 41 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started again 8 miles north of 51CA Kelly Airport in Lucerne Valley, California, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 10 nautical miles. However, the aircraft soon began another descent, this time from 24,973 feet above sea level to 6,800 feet above sea level, a decrease of 18,172 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 59 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed once more, this time 3 miles north of Foothill Ranch, California, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 3 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another descent, this time from 6,118 feet above sea level to 4,357 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,761 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started again 2 miles north of Irvine, California, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 6 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began a final descent from 4,014 feet above sea level to 1,338 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,676 feet in 4 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 30 at KLGB Long Beach Airport was from the southeast, with the aircraft heading 315.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,270 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 30 was successful, with the touchdown distance being good at 251 meters. The touchdown speed was 120 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was firm at -323 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 23.1 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 14°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 150°, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 688 meters, which accounted for 34% of the runway length. The
The Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft successfully landed at KLGB Long Beach Airport (Daugherty Field) with a score of 86.4%. The final approach to runway 30 was initiated from the southeast, heading 315.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,270 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, which has a length of 2,026 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 126 knots. However, the touchdown distance of 251 meters was considered good, and the touchdown speed of 120 knots was also within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate of -323 feet per minute (fpm) was firm, indicating a controlled descent.
Despite the satisfactory touchdown, the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 23.1 meters from the centerline. This misalignment was also observed during the runway rollout alignment, which was off by 23.3 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were mild, with a temperature of 14°C and a light wind of 2 knots at 150°.
The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, and the tailwind component was 2 knots. The total landing distance of 688 meters was 34% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. Overall, while the landing was satisfactory, the significant misalignment of the runway touchdown position and rollout alignment may require further attention to improve the aircraft's landing performance.
