Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,132 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 337 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 21 at LFRS Nantes Atlantique Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,278 meters, which accounted for 47% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 154 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 12 knots at 240 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 7 knots and a headwind of 10 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile west of Pont-Saint-Martin in the Pays de la Loire region of France. The climb took 17 minutes and covered 101 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,098 feet above sea level to 37,885 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile west of Saint-Jean-des-Champs in the Normandie region of France. This phase lasted for 47 minutes and covered 323 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 3 miles northeast of Ingleton in North Yorkshire, England. The descent took 26 minutes and covered 112 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from 36,573 feet to 1,392 feet.
The final approach to runway 24 at EGPH Edinburgh Airport was made from the northeast, with a heading of 239.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,280 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 24, which had a length of 2,132 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was well above the target at 145 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 339 meters, but the touchdown speed was fast at 145 knots. The touchdown rate was good at -182 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.5 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 11.6 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 15 knots at 260 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 14 knots.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 7 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 543 nautical miles, which was covered in 106 minutes. The aircraft used 3,815 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at Edinburgh Airport, achieving a score of 95.1%. The final approach was conducted from the north-east, heading 239.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,280 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft was on a steady course for a landing on runway 24, which has a length of 2,132 meters.
Upon touchdown, the threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft touched down at the correct point on the runway. However, the threshold speed was above the target speed, coming in at 145 knots. This may have been due to the aircraft's approach speed being slightly higher than intended. The touchdown distance of 339 meters was considered good, but the touchdown speed of 145 knots was faster than desired.
The rate of descent during touchdown was good, at -182 feet per minute (fpm). This suggests that the aircraft's autopilot system or the pilots were able to maintain a stable and controlled descent. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline, by 3.5 meters. This may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's course during the final approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C and a wind speed of 15 knots from 260°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 14 knots. The pilots would have needed to take these wind conditions into account during the approach and landing.
The total landing distance was 1,159 meters, which is 54% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop within a reasonable distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned from the centerline, by 11.6 meters. This may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's course during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score of 95.1%. However, there were some minor deviations from the desired touchdown speed and runway alignment, which may have been due to the wind conditions and the pilots' approach strategy.
