Smooth the climb
Pull to 15 degrees at one rate and you get a clean liftoff, pull to the same 15 degrees at twice the rate and you get an overshoot, a push, and an oscillation through the first few hundred feet. The type-general rule of thumb is a rotation rate of about 2 to 3 degrees per second, which means roughly five to seven seconds from starting the pull to reaching the initial climb attitude of around 15 degrees nose-up. Count it out loud during your next takeoff and you will almost certainly discover you have been rotating in two seconds flat.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,059 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 491 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 31 at Le Touquet-Côte d'Opale Airport (LFAT). The takeoff distance was 861 meters, which accounted for 51% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 147 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 10°C, with a wind speed of 14 knots at a direction of 278°. This resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 11 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb after departing the airport, with the climb starting overhead Le Touquet-Paris-Plage. The aircraft climbed from an altitude of 1,127 feet above sea level to 39,964 feet above sea level, an increase of 38,838 feet, in 37 minutes and covering a distance of 187 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise phase of the flight began 14 miles southwest of Guernsey Airport (EGJB), and lasted for 174 minutes, covering a distance of 1,100 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started at a latitude of 38.009894 and a longitude of -23.0543497. The descent took 18 minutes, covering a distance of 117 nautical miles, and resulted in a decrease of 39,185 feet in altitude, from 40,690 feet above sea level to 1,504 feet above sea level.
The final approach to runway 18 at Santa Maria Airport (LPAZ) was made from the north, with the aircraft heading at 171.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,202 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with the touchdown point being 74 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 125 knots, which was considered good, and the touchdown rate was fair at -201 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was also perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 18°C, with a wind speed of 6 knots at a direction of 90°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance was 995 meters, which accounted for 33% of the runway. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, which took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 1,411 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 215 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 8,255 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at LPAZ Santa Maria Airport, achieving a high score of 99.8%. The final approach to runway 18 was conducted from the north, with a heading of 171.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,202 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 131 knots. However, the touchdown point was slightly beyond the designated touchdown zone, at a distance of 74 meters. The touchdown speed of 125 knots was within the acceptable range, but the touchdown rate of -201 feet per minute was only fair.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 18°C and a relatively light wind of 6 knots at 90°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. These conditions did not pose a significant challenge to the aircraft's landing.
The total landing distance of 995 meters was 33% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively to bring the plane to a stop.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft touching down safely and coming to a stop within a reasonable distance. However, there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown rate and touchdown point accuracy.
