Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,282 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,282 m of the 2,993 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 617 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at EGFF Cardiff International Airport, a process that took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 12, with a takeoff distance of 1,528 meters, which accounted for 77% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 153 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 22°C temperature and a wind speed of 5 knots at 95°. The crosswind was 2 knots, while the headwind was 4 knots. The enroute climb started approximately 1 mile south west of Barry, in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, and involved a significant increase in altitude from 1,051 feet above sea level to 35,083 feet above sea level, a rise of 34,032 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 114 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began overhead Ewell in Surrey, England, and lasted for 110 minutes, covering a distance of 821 nautical miles. The enroute descent started approximately 1 mile west of Hercegszanto in Bacs-Kiskun county, Hungary, and involved a decrease in altitude from 35,134 feet above sea level to 1,611 feet above sea level, a drop of 33,523 feet in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 86 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 12 at LYBE Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport was made from the north west, with a heading of 122.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,271 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 12, which had a length of 2,993 meters, was successful, with the threshold height being above the target and the threshold speed being good at 134 knots.
However, the touchdown point was 203 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 127 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -278 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 18°C temperature and a wind speed of 2 knots at 300°, with a crosswind of 0 knots and a tailwind of 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 2,204 meters, which accounted for 74% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.5 meters from the centreline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,031 nautical miles, taking 157 minutes, and the aircraft used 6,343 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at LYBE Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, achieving an overall score of 88.0%. The final approach to runway 12 was initiated from the north-west, with a heading of 122.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,271 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being above the target at 64 feet agl. However, the threshold speed was satisfactory at 134 knots, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown point was located 203 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing spot.
The touchdown speed of 127 knots was slightly faster than the desired speed, which could have resulted in a slightly longer landing distance. Nevertheless, the touchdown rate of -278 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, suggesting a relatively smooth and controlled touchdown. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 18°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots at 300°. The crosswind component was negligible, while the tailwind component was 2 knots, which may have contributed to the slightly faster touchdown speed.
The total landing distance of 2,204 meters was 74% of the available runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.5 meters from the centerline, which may require further attention to ensure a more precise alignment during future landings.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a satisfactory score of 88.0%. However, there are areas for improvement, including the touchdown speed and runway rollout alignment, which can be addressed through further training and practice.
