MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,401 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 800 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a VL3, then departed from runway 33 at LITY Aviosuperficie Agrigento, a small airfield in Sicily, Italy. The takeoff distance was 341 meters, which accounted for 69% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 78 knots.
During the initial climb, the aircraft ascended from 1,148 feet above sea level to 4,901 feet, an increase of 3,753 feet, in 9 minutes and covering 13 nautical miles. The climb started 1 mile north of LITY Aviosuperficie Agrigento San Leone Mose. The local weather conditions at the time were a temperature of 16°C, with a wind speed of 2 knots at 269°.
The enroute level cruise phase began 4 miles west of Licata, Sicily, and lasted for 7 minutes, covering 15 nautical miles. The aircraft then started another climb, this time from 6,055 feet to 6,569 feet, an increase of 513 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 3 nautical miles. This climb started 2 miles south of LIGB Trike Team Cormorano Gela.
The aircraft then began a descent from 6,579 feet to 3,503 feet, a decrease of 3,077 feet, in 3 minutes and covering 8 nautical miles. This descent started 1 mile south of Gela. The aircraft then climbed again from 3,440 feet to 4,141 feet, an increase of 701 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 3 nautical miles. This climb started 2 miles south of Niscemi.
The aircraft then began another descent from 4,206 feet to 3,595 feet, a decrease of 611 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 4 nautical miles. This descent started 3 miles east of Niscemi. The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, lasting 2 minutes, covering 3 nautical miles, and starting 2 miles northwest of Granieri.
The aircraft then began a descent from 3,639 feet to 2,615 feet, a decrease of 1,024 feet, in 3 minutes and covering 3 nautical miles. This descent started 1 mile south of LIGR Campo di Volo Avioclub Caltagirone Grammichele. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, lasting 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile, and starting 1 mile west of Licodia Eubea.
The aircraft then climbed from 2,815 feet to 3,552 feet, an increase of 737 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 2 nautical miles. This climb started overhead Licodia Eubea. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, lasting 6 minutes, covering 2 nautical miles, and starting 2 miles south of Licodia Eubea.
The aircraft then began a descent from 3,445 feet to 2,434 feet, a decrease of 1,011 feet, in 2 minutes and covering 3 nautical miles. This descent started 1 mile west of Monterosso Almo. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 23 at LICB Comiso Airport, flying from the northeast at a heading of 227.0° and at an altitude of 1,719 feet above ground level.
The aircraft landed on runway 23, which was 2,401 meters long. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 52 knots. The touchdown point was 354 meters beyond the touchdown zone
The VL3 aircraft successfully landed at Comiso Airport (LICB) with a score of 81.5%. The final approach was initiated from the north-east, heading 227.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,719 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 23, which has a length of 2,401 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 52 knots. The touchdown point was 354 meters beyond the touchdown zone, indicating that the aircraft landed slightly further down the runway than intended. The touchdown speed of 44 knots was considered good, and the touchdown rate of -125 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent.
However, there were some issues with the alignment of the aircraft during the landing. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.7 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 20.9 meters from the centerline. This suggests that the aircraft may have drifted off course during the landing, potentially due to crosswind or other factors.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 2 knots from 270°. The crosswind was minimal at 1 knot, and the headwind was 2 knots, which may have contributed to the aircraft's alignment issues during the landing. Overall, while the landing was successful, there are areas for improvement in terms of alignment and speed control.
