MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Departure
Rotate the moment the speed tape reaches 125 kt, not after it.
What happened: Rotation was held until 132 kt, 7 kt past the 125 kt rotation target. Carrying that much extra speed into rotation usually adds unwanted energy right at liftoff.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator against the 125 kt rotation target.
Arrival
Reduce power on approach to bring speed back to 123 kt; correcting it early stops it carrying to the threshold and beyond.
What happened: The approach ran fast on speed, and that excess was still present at the threshold, crossing at 153 kt against a target of 123 kt; carrying that much extra speed usually carries the touchdown long.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator against 123 kt on approach, and threshold speed against 123 kt at the threshold.
The point is that every knot above it is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast: at a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix for "the plane just wouldn't come down" is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: six checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out. These checks are the approach's score.
At the 500 ft gate: glideslope 4.8° against the runway's 3°, centreline 3.8° off, against a 1° limit, wings 33° of bank, against a 10° limit and speed 60 kt FAST on the reference speed of 123 kt.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,716 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,716 ft of the 8,634 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,800 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The 2.26 G arrival is the firm side of smooth.
The rest of the report
Aircraft operations commenced at Colonel James Jabara Airport in Wichita, Kansas, with the departure roll from runway 18. The takeoff distance covered 2,237 feet, representing 37% of the runway length. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 132 knots, with a local temperature of 94°F and a wind of 16 knots at 170°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 16 knots.
As the aircraft transitioned to the enroute phase, it began a climb from 2,151 feet above sea level to 44,034 feet, an increase of 41,883 feet in 18 minutes and covering 120 nautical miles. The climb was followed by a level cruise, which lasted 5 minutes and covered 44 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another climb, this time from 44,003 feet to 44,913 feet, an increase of 910 feet in 2 minutes and covering 14 nautical miles. The flight continued with multiple level cruises and descents, with the aircraft eventually beginning its descent from 44,974 feet to 24,007 feet in 9 minutes and covering 66 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 09 at Cheyenne Regional Jerry Olson Field was initiated from the west, with the aircraft touching down 1,212 feet beyond the touchdown zone.
The landing performance was notable for its excessive threshold height, high threshold speed, and heavy touchdown rate. The runway touchdown position was also misaligned by 47 feet from the centreline. The total landing distance was 5,228 feet, representing 61% of the runway length. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, covering 2 nautical miles in 7 minutes. The total flight distance was 425 nautical miles, with a total flight time of 74 minutes and a fuel consumption of 3 pounds.
The final approach to runway 09 at KCYS Cheyenne Regional Jerry Olson Field from the west was initiated at 1 nm and 677 ft above ground level, heading 83.0°. The approach quality was compromised due to an excessively high threshold height of 159 ft above ground level, exceeding the target by a significant margin. This deviation from the standard approach profile likely contributed to the pilot's difficulty in maintaining a suitable threshold speed, which was recorded at 153 kt, exceeding the target.
As the aircraft touched down 1,212 ft beyond the touchdown zone, the touchdown speed of 135 kt was also found to be too fast, indicating a lack of control during the descent. The touchdown rate of -1,490 fpm was notably heavy, suggesting a potentially hazardous situation. Furthermore, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 47 ft from the centreline, indicating a deviation from the standard approach path. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 79 °F and a 5 kt headwind, did not appear to significantly impact the approach.
The total landing distance of 5,228 ft, accounting for 61% of the runway length, was excessive. The runway rollout alignment was also found to be significantly misaligned by 133 ft from the centreline, indicating a loss of control during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing performance of Aircraft C750 was subpar, with a score of 56.4%. The pilot's inability to maintain a suitable approach speed, combined with a heavy touchdown rate and misaligned touchdown and rollout positions, contributed to the poor performance.
