Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,000 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 822 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Airbus A321 from LIEE Cagliari Elmas Airport to LICJ Falcone–Borsellino Airport was smooth overall.
The taxiing from the parking to the runway at Cagliari Elmas Airport took 10 minutes to cover 2 nm. The departure roll on runway 32 involved using 49% of the runway with a takeoff distance of 1,366 m. The liftoff speed was 156 kn. The local weather at the time of departure was 13°C with a wind of 13 kn at 309° resulting in a crosswind of 2 kn and headwind of 13 kn.
The enroute climb began over Elmas in Sardegna, Italy, climbing from 1,020 ft asl to 18,140 ft asl in 9 minutes and covering 46 nm. The enroute level cruise started 24 miles east of Villasimius and lasted 14 minutes, covering 105 nm. The enroute descent started 43 miles west of Ustica in Sicilia, descending from 18,158 ft asl to 1,281 ft asl in 20 minutes and covering 59 nm.
The final approach to runway 25 at Falcone–Borsellino Airport was from the northeast at 4 nm and 1,233 ft agl. The landing was slightly firm with a touchdown speed of 136 kn and a touchdown rate of -340 ft/m. The touchdown point was 401 m beyond the touchdown zone and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.4 m from the centerline. The local weather at the time of landing was 14°C with a wind of 29 kn at 230°, resulting in a crosswind of 9 kn and headwind of 28 kn. The total landing distance was 1,291 m, which was 43% of the runway.
The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.3 m from the centerline. Taxiing from the runway to the parking took 7 minutes and covered less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 218 nm and the flight took 58 minutes. 2,679 kg of fuel were used during the flight.
Firstly, I want to congratulate you on an overall landing score of 88.8%. You had some excellent aspects in your approach phase with a great glideslope alignment and a slightly above target threshold speed of 153 kn. This shows great precision and control during the descent towards the runway.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, it's great to see that you had a good threshold height, which is crucial for ensuring a safe and smooth touchdown. However, there was a concern with the landing flare being very poor. This could have contributed to a less than ideal touchdown and potentially caused the firm touchdown rate of -340 ft/m.
Despite the firm touchdown, it's positive to note that your touchdown speed at 136 kn was within a good range. Additionally, the touchdown point being 401 m beyond the touchdown zone shows the importance of focusing on touchdown accuracy to ensure the aircraft lands exactly where intended.
On further analysis, the misalignment of the runway touchdown position by 8.4 m from the centerline is an area of improvement. Ensuring proper alignment with the runway is crucial for a safe landing and can greatly impact the overall score.
Overall, your performance during the landing had both strengths and areas for improvement. By focusing on refining your landing flare technique, runway alignment, and touchdown accuracy, you can strive for even higher scores in future landings. Keep up the good work and continue to fine-tune your skills to achieve even better results in your next flights. Your dedication to improvement is commendable and will undoubtedly lead to continued success in your aviation journey.
