Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,716 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 583 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then departed from runway 23 at EGDM MoD Boscombe Down, with a takeoff distance of 716 meters, which accounted for 23% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 122 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 18 knots at 130°. The crosswind component was 18 knots, while the tailwind component was 3 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, which started overhead EGDM MoD Boscombe Down Amesbury, Wiltshire, England. The climb took 15 minutes and covered 86 nautical miles, with the aircraft ascending from 1,396 feet above sea level to 32,790 feet above sea level, a total increase of 31,393 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 2 miles west of Ditton Priors, Shropshire, England. This phase lasted for 47 minutes and covered 281 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 9 miles north of Tobermory, Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The descent took 12 minutes and covered 61 nautical miles, with the aircraft descending from 32,865 feet above sea level to 1,845 feet above sea level, a total decrease of 31,020 feet.
The final approach to runway 24 at EGPL Benbecula Airport was made from the north-east, with a heading of 231.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,801 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 24, which had a length of 1,716 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 111 knots. The touchdown point was 158 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 103 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was good at -156 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 13°C and a wind speed of 11 knots at 170°. The crosswind component was 10 knots, while the headwind component was 5 knots. The total landing distance was 1,186 meters, which accounted for 69% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the taxiing to the parking from the runway took less than 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 434 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 83 minutes. The aircraft used 4 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, identified as RJ70, successfully landed at EGPL Benbecula Airport, achieving a score of 96.5%. The final approach was conducted from the north east, aligning with a heading of 231.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,801 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 24, which has a length of 1,716 meters. The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 111 knots, suggesting that the pilot may have been slightly aggressive in their approach.
The touchdown point was located 158 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 103 knots was a little faster than the target speed, but the touchdown rate of -156 feet per minute (fpm) was reported as good. This indicates that the aircraft was able to slow down quickly and smoothly after touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 13°C and a wind speed of 11 knots from a direction of 170°. The crosswind component was 10 knots, while the headwind component was 5 knots. These conditions presented a moderate challenge for the pilot, but they were able to navigate the aircraft safely to the ground.
The total landing distance was 1,186 meters, which represents 69% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop quickly and efficiently. The runway rollout alignment was also reported as very good, suggesting that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good skills and judgment in navigating the aircraft to the ground in challenging weather conditions.
