Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,979 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,979 m of the 3,717 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 830 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-200ER, then departed from runway 09R at London Heathrow Airport (EGLL). The takeoff distance was 1,241 meters, which accounted for 37% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 168 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 13 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 15 knots at a direction of 60 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 13 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northwest of Feltham in Greater London, England. The climb took 20 minutes and covered a distance of 128 nautical miles, with the aircraft ascending from 1,083 feet above sea level to 33,808 feet.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, starting 1 mile northeast of Klerken in Flanders, Belgium. This phase lasted for 102 minutes and covered a distance of 835 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another climb, this time starting 6 miles southeast of Tomesti in Timis, Romania. The climb took only 2 minutes and covered a distance of 14 nautical miles, with the aircraft ascending from 34,470 feet to 36,218 feet.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting overhead Rachitova in Hunedoara, Romania. This phase lasted for 1,169 minutes and covered a distance of 4,214 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 23 miles northwest of Bo Phloi in Changwat Kanchanaburi, Thailand. The descent took 24 minutes and covered a distance of 103 nautical miles, with the aircraft descending from 38,652 feet to 1,172 feet.
The final approach to runway 19R at Suvarnabhumi Airport (VTBS) was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 194.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,150 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 19R, which had a length of 3,717 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 137 knots. The touchdown point was 416 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 137 knots. However, the touchdown rate was good at -168 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 200 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 7 knots. The total landing distance was 1,900 meters, which accounted for 51% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 9 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 5,304 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 679 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 73,114 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 777-200ER aircraft successfully landed at VTBS Suvarnabhumi Airport, with a final approach score of 92.0%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the north, heading 194.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,150 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on runway 19R, which has a length of 3,717 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 137 knots, which may have been due to various factors such as wind resistance or the aircraft's performance characteristics.
The touchdown point was located 416 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively long distance. The touchdown speed of 137 knots was also slightly above the target speed, indicating that the aircraft may have been descending at a slightly faster rate than intended. Nevertheless, the touchdown rate of -168 feet per minute (fpm) was reported as good, suggesting that the aircraft was able to slow down effectively after touchdown.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 34°C and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 200°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 7 knots, which may have contributed to the slightly above-target threshold speed.
The total landing distance was 1,900 meters, which is 51% of the runway length. This is a relatively long landing distance, but it is not uncommon for aircraft of this size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was reported as perfect, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a straight course after touchdown and during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was executed safely and efficiently, with the aircraft coming to a stop within a reasonable distance from the runway threshold.
