Arrival
Fly the aircraft onto the runway at the aim point instead of holding it off and letting it float further down the runway.
What happened: This landing touched down well beyond the target point on the runway, with nothing else in the approach or flare accounting for it.
Watch for: Aim point markings: touchdown at the target point on the runway.
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

From brake release to the end of the climb, against time, then the takeoff point by point.
Rotated at 157 kt, and lifted off at 167 kt 4.4 s later, the nose coming up at 2.3° a second. Climb 3 averaged 167 kt, 17 kt under its 184 kt target.
Two traces from brake release: the airspeed on top, and below it the pitch, which is how far the nose is above the horizon. The figures at liftoff are the pitch then and how fast the nose came up, in degrees a second. The shaded stretch is Climb 3, the part of the climb scored on holding the climb speed.
The takeoff, point by point
Side view from the start of the roll to the end of Climb 3 at 912 ft.
Reached 35 ft with 2,490 ft of runway left; gear up at 159 ft, inside the 400 ft that gets full marks; then climbing at 2,410 fpm on average to 912 ft.
The takeoff from the side: the height above the runway against the distance along it. The numbers along the runway are the speeds reached at each point. Lifting off in the amber last quarter of the runway costs marks for the roll length. The gear-up ring is coloured by its mark. The shaded stretch is Climb 3, scored on its average speed against the target.
Plan view the roll down the 9,559 ft runway.
Rolled from the start of the runway, drifted 9 ft left of the centreline and was back on it to lift off. Airborne 61 % of the way down the runway, before the 75 % line.
The roll from above, with your left at the top. The line is where the wheels went, and "widest" is the furthest you drifted off the centreline. Lifting off before the amber 75 % line gets full marks for the roll length.
The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
The final from 4 nm.
Profile height against the 3° glideslope, with its 1° band in green.
Inside the glideslope band from 4 nm to the threshold, never more than 130 ft above the slope.
Your height above the runway against the distance still to go. The glideslope is the steady descent path to the aiming point, 1,000 ft past the threshold: 3° here, which is about 320 ft for every nautical mile out, crossing the threshold at about 50 ft. The row under the distances is the height it puts you at. Inside the green band your path is drawn green; outside it, amber.
Plan distance off the extended centreline, your left at the top, with the 1° band. Sideways distances are drawn 12× larger than distances along the final.
Inside the 1° band all the way from 4 nm, never more than 110 ft off the centreline.
Looking down from above, flying left to right towards the runway: up the page is left of the centreline, down is right. Sideways distances are stretched so that small drifts show, so a line that looks wild here may be only a few tens of feet. The labels are how far off you were at each distance, amber when outside the band.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 757-200 taxied from the parking area to runway 22R at KEWR for eight minutes, covering 2 nm, and departed on a take-off roll of 5,851 ft (61 % of the runway). Rotation occurred at 157 kt. Local weather was 66 °F with a wind of 2 kt from 289°, a 1 kt cross-wind and no head-wind.
Initial climb to 1,000 ft agl took 21 seconds, averaging 2,186 fpm and reaching 167 kt at the top of the climb. The aircraft then climbed from 984 ft asl to 33,509 ft asl in 13 minutes, covering 73 nm, beginning about 1 mile east of Elizabeth. Level flight at 34,000 ft asl continued for 105 minutes, covering 726 nm, starting overhead Palmerton.
A subsequent climb from 33,999 ft asl to 35,998 ft asl took 3 minutes over 21 nm, beginning 3 mi north-west of Riverside. Level flight at 36,000 ft asl lasted 20 minutes, covering 136 nm, starting 2 mi west of North English. The aircraft then climbed from 36,001 ft asl to 37,995 ft asl in 3 minutes over 21 nm, beginning 2 mi east of Walnut. Level flight at 38,000 ft asl continued for 45 minutes, covering 300 nm, starting 2 mi north-west of Neola.
Descent from 38,000 ft asl to 12,002 ft asl took 16 minutes, covering 97 nm, beginning 6 mi south-east of KHEQ Holyoke Airport. Level flight at 12,000 ft asl lasted 27 minutes, covering 121 nm, starting 6 mi south of 6CO5 Montrose BLM Heliport. A further descent from 11,994 ft asl to 11,032 ft asl took 2 minutes over 8 nm, beginning 3 mi north-west of CO80 Fowler Airport. Level flight at 11,000 ft asl continued for 15 minutes, covering 76 nm, starting 3 mi east of Boone. The final descent from 10,987 ft asl to 6,904 ft asl took 4 minutes, covering 17 nm, beginning 3 mi south of 1CO8 Everitt Airport.
On final approach to runway 35L at KDEN, the aircraft descended from 1,557 ft agl to 155 ft agl in 93 seconds. Stabilisation checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway were met for gear down, landing flap, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and wings level; the speed check was not met at one gate. Configuration was landing gear down at 3,216 ft agl at 225 kt, and final flap position 5 at 1,420 ft agl at 185 kt.
Landing on runway 35L (length 12,014 ft) occurred with a good threshold height. Threshold speed was slightly below target at 132 kt. The flare was described as perfect; the aircraft floated before touchdown. Touchdown was 1,396 ft beyond the touchdown zone at 120 kt, with a fair rate of -220 fpm and very good alignment. Local weather was 56 °F with a wind of 4 kt from 300°, a 3 kt cross-wind and a 2 kt head-wind. No bounce occurred. Total landing distance was 6,515 ft (54 % of the runway) and rollout alignment was perfect.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in five minutes, covering 1 nm. The entire flight covered 1,607 nm in 270 minutes and used 31,280 lb of fuel.
