Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,124 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 404 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone.
The rest of the report
While your aircraft landing score of 43.6% may seem discouraging, it is important to remember that each landing provides a valuable learning opportunity. By addressing the specific areas of improvement identified in the analysis, you can work towards achieving a higher score in your future landings.
Starting with the Approach Phase, it is crucial to maintain a descent path within the glideslope limits and ensure proper heading alignment to set yourself up for a successful landing. Additionally, controlling your speed to prevent it from becoming excessively high will help you approach the runway more smoothly.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, focus on lowering the threshold height to meet the targeted point and improving your landing flare technique for a smoother touchdown. Pay attention to your bank angle stability during landing to ensure a safe and controlled descent.
In the Touchdown Phase, work on reducing the touchdown rate by adjusting your speed appropriately and aim to touch down within the designated touchdown zone to improve your landing accuracy. Avoid bouncing on touchdown to prevent any loss of control of the aircraft.
Lastly, during the Rollout Phase, concentrate on maintaining runway alignment by staying closer to the centreline for a more precise landing.
By incorporating these adjustments and focusing on improving the specific areas highlighted in the analysis, you can gradually enhance your overall landing performance. Keep practicing and remain patient and determined, and you will see progress in your skills as a pilot. Remember, every landing is an opportunity to learn and grow. Keep up the hard work!
