Improve the pattern base leg turn
Bank angle in the pattern is conventionally kept to 20 to 30 degrees, and the base-to-final turn is where that convention earns its keep. Stall speed rises with bank because the wing must produce more lift in a turn. Roughly 7 per cent higher at 30 degrees, about 19 per cent at 45, and around 40 per cent at 60. At 65 kt on base you don't have much margin to spend steepening a turn to salvage an overshoot.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 767 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 767 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 155 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 28 at OMRJ Jazirah Airport. The SR22 aircraft accelerated down the runway, reaching a liftoff speed of 80 kt. The takeoff distance was 260 m, which accounted for 34% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 25 °C and a wind speed of 17 kt from a direction of 273 °. This resulted in a headwind of 17 kt and a negligible crosswind of 3 kt.
After taking off, the pilot entered a left-hand pattern, navigating the aircraft around the airport. The entry into the pattern was swift, with the aircraft covering a distance of less than 1 nm in just 9 seconds. As the pilot continued with the pattern, the aircraft encountered a crosswind from the runway 28, which was navigated in 21 seconds. The pilot then executed a downwind turn, covering a distance of 1 nm at an angle of 83.7 ° to the runway. The downwind leg itself was 2 nm long and took 51 seconds to complete.
Following the downwind leg, the pilot initiated a base leg turn, which covered a distance of 1 nm at an angle of 2.8 ° to the runway. The final approach to runway 28 was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 284.0 ° at an altitude of 366 ft above ground level (agl) and a distance of 1 nm from the runway threshold.
The landing on runway 28 was smooth and controlled, with the pilot achieving a threshold speed of 76 kt and a touchdown speed of 70 kt. The touchdown distance was 154 m, which was within the acceptable limits. The touchdown rate was also smooth, at -121 fpm. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot had successfully aligned the aircraft with the runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those at takeoff, with a temperature of 25 °C and a wind speed of 11 kt from a direction of 273 °. This resulted in a headwind of 11 kt and a negligible crosswind of 2 kt. The total landing distance was 369 m, which accounted for 48% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
The flight was completed with a total distance of 5 nm, which was covered in 5 minutes. The aircraft used a total of -29 kg of fuel during the flight. Overall, the flight was characterized by smooth and controlled operations, with the pilot successfully navigating the aircraft through the pattern and landing on the runway.
The SR22 aircraft successfully landed at OMRJ Jazirah Airport, achieving a high score of 96.8%. The final approach to runway 28 was conducted from the east, with the aircraft heading 284.0° at a distance of 1 nautical mile and an altitude of 366 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot demonstrated excellent control and precision, resulting in a smooth touchdown.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down at a speed of 70 kt, which was within the acceptable threshold speed of 76 kt. The touchdown distance of 154 meters was also well within the expected range, indicating a controlled and stable approach. The touchdown rate of -121 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, further emphasizing the pilot's skill and expertise.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 25°C and a headwind of 11 kt at 273°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 2 kt, which contributed to the smooth and controlled landing. The runway length of 767 meters was sufficient to accommodate the aircraft's landing distance of 369 meters, which accounted for only 48% of the available runway.
The post-landing rollout was also executed with precision, with the aircraft maintaining a very good alignment with the runway. Overall, the landing was a testament to the pilot's skill and experience, as well as the aircraft's performance capabilities. The high score achieved is a reflection of the pilot's ability to navigate challenging weather conditions and execute a smooth, controlled landing.
