Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,794 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 377 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in the Vueling EC-LUN began with a 9-minute taxi from the parking area to the runway at Bilbao Airport. The departure roll on runway 12 covered 2 nm and the takeoff distance was 1,392 m, which was 65% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 149 knots. Local weather at the time of departure was 21 °C with a wind speed of 8 knots at 99°, resulting in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 8 knots.
The enroute climb started over Zamudio, Spain, climbing from 1,141 ft to 33,489 ft, covering a distance of 121 nm in 18 minutes. The enroute level cruise began 1 mile northwest of Nueno, Spain, lasting 25 minutes and covering 183 nm. The enroute descent was initiated 22 miles northwest of Port de Soller, decreasing the altitude from 33,628 ft to 1,805 ft in 21 minutes, covering 80 nm.
The landing took place on runway 24 at Ibiza Airport with a runway length of 2,794 m. The height at threshold was 49 ft above ground level, with a speed of 137 knots. The touchdown occurred 378 m from the threshold at a speed of 135 knots with a Vertical Speed Indicator reading of -283 ft/min. Local weather at Ibiza was 22 °C with a wind speed of 6 knots at 350°, resulting in a crosswind of 5 knots and a tailwind of 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,734 m, which was 62% of the runway length.
After landing, the taxi from the runway to the parking area took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 393 nm, with a total flight time of 93 minutes. The flight consumed 3,292 kg of fuel.
First and foremost, congratulations on achieving a landing score of 94.9%! This is a fantastic accomplishment and speaks to the skill and precision of the pilot during the various phases of the landing.
In the Approach Phase, the excellent glideslope alignment indicates that the pilot maintained a steady descent angle, ensuring a smooth transition from the final approach to the landing runway. This is crucial for a safe and controlled landing, as it allows for proper alignment with the runway and sets the stage for a successful touchdown.
Moving on to the Landing Phase, it is great to see that the pilot had a good threshold height, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway threshold. The great landing flare suggests that the pilot executed the flare maneuver effectively, allowing for a smooth touchdown and minimizing the risk of a hard landing.
In the Touchdown Phase, the firm touchdown rate and on-target speed are key indicators of a well-executed landing. A firm touchdown rate is usually preferred to ensure that the aircraft settles properly onto the runway, while an on-target speed helps to maintain control and stability during the touchdown. The touchdown point being 340 m beyond the touchdown zone shows that the pilot was able to accurately judge the touchdown point, further demonstrating skill and precision.
Lastly, in the Rollout Phase, the runway alignment being 9.7 m from the centerline indicates that the pilot was able to maintain proper alignment with the runway during the rollout, ensuring a safe and smooth taxi to the parking area.
Overall, this landing performance showcases a high level of proficiency and attention to detail throughout the various phases of the landing. Consistently maintaining alignment, proper speed, and touchdown accuracy are key factors in achieving a successful landing, and it is clear that the pilot demonstrated these skills effectively. Keep up the great work and continue to strive for excellence in every flight!
