Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,651 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 168 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Beechcraft Baron G58, then departed from runway 22 at LFLP Annecy Haute-Savoie Mont Blanc Airport. The takeoff distance was 819 meters, which accounted for 72% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 125 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 17 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots at a direction of 10 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a tailwind of 9 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile west of Cran-Gevrier, and climbed from an altitude of 2,481 feet above sea level to 3,645 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,164 feet, in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 7 nautical miles.
The enroute descent began overhead Bloye, where the aircraft descended from 3,550 feet above sea level to 1,317 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,233 feet, in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 18 at LFLB Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Airport was made from the north, heading 175.0 degrees at an altitude of 531 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway.
The landing on runway 18 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 163 meters, which was 65% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 72 knots, and the touchdown rate was -154 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.3 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots at a direction of 11 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 2 knots and a tailwind of 10 knots.
The aircraft then taxied to the parking from the runway, which took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 27 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 10 minutes. The aircraft used 10 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Beechcraft Baron G58 successfully landed at LFLB Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Airport, achieving a score of 94.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 175.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 531 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, ensuring a good threshold height and speed of 76 knots upon touchdown.
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated a good touchdown distance of 163 meters, with a corresponding touchdown speed of 72 knots. The touchdown rate was also satisfactory at -154 feet per minute (fpm). However, there was a slight deviation in the runway touchdown position, with the aircraft being 4.3 meters off-centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C, with a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 11°. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a tailwind of 10 knots, which the pilot effectively managed during the landing. The total landing distance was 1,078 meters, representing 65% of the runway length.
Following touchdown, the aircraft's rollout alignment was slightly misaligned, with the aircraft being 11.7 meters off-centerline. Despite this minor deviation, the overall landing performance of the Beechcraft Baron G58 was impressive, with the pilot demonstrating a high level of skill and control throughout the approach and landing phases.
