Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 7,461 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,647 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A300-600R, then departed from runway 27 at Miami International Airport (KMIA). The takeoff distance was 4,214 feet, which was 37% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 160 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 76°F and winds of 20 knots at 299°. The crosswind was 11 knots, and the headwind was 17 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile north of Flagami, Florida, and the aircraft climbed from 981 feet above sea level to 10,648 feet above sea level, an increase of 9,667 feet in 6 minutes, covering a distance of 24 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 8 miles west of the Baptist Emergency Center Clay Heliport in Orange Park, Florida, and lasted 3 minutes, covering 19 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another enroute climb 12 miles south of Okeelanta Airport in South Bay, Florida, and climbed from 11,070 feet above sea level to 36,034 feet above sea level, an increase of 24,964 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 124 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 4 miles southwest of Polk City, Florida, and lasted 136 minutes, covering 929 nautical miles. As the aircraft continued its journey, it encountered a change in weather conditions, and the enroute descent started overhead Lowell Airport in Lowell, Indiana. The aircraft descended from 36,001 feet above sea level to 3,998 feet above sea level, a decrease of 32,003 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 61 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 14 miles north of Gary, Indiana, and lasted 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles. The enroute descent started 16 miles east of Chicago Meigs Airport in Chicago, Illinois, and the aircraft descended from 3,998 feet above sea level to 2,204 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,794 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 10 miles east of Near North Side, Illinois, and lasted 10 minutes, covering 19 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 28L at Chicago O'Hare International Airport (KORD) was from the east, heading 270.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,460 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 28L at KORD was successful, with a touchdown point 244 feet beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was slightly above the target at 135 knots, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 122 knots. The touchdown rate was good at -167 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 43 feet from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 19°F and winds of 21 knots at 320°. The crosswind was 16 knots, and the headwind was 14 knots. The total landing distance was 3,543 feet, which was 47% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 43 feet from the centreline.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking from the runway, which took 15 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The total flight distance was 1,200 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 220 minutes. The aircraft used 36,950 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A300-600R aircraft successfully landed on runway 28L at KORD Chicago O'Hare International Airport, achieving a score of 94.4%. The final approach to the runway was initiated from the east, heading 270.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,460 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully touched down on the runway, with a threshold height that was considered good.
However, there were a few areas for improvement during the landing. The threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 135 knots, indicating that the aircraft may have been slightly too fast during the approach. Additionally, the touchdown speed of 122 knots was a little faster than desired, which could have resulted in a longer landing distance. On the positive side, the touchdown rate of -167 feet per minute (fpm) was considered good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The landing distance of 3,543 feet was 47% of the available runway length of 7,461 feet, which is a relatively short landing distance. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 43 feet from the centreline, which could have resulted in a longer rollout distance. Furthermore, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned by 43 feet from the centreline, which could have made it more difficult for the aircraft to come to a stop.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 19°F and winds of 21 knots at 320°. The crosswind component was 16 knots, while the headwind component was 14 knots. These conditions may have contributed to the slightly misaligned touchdown and rollout positions. Overall, while there were some areas for improvement, the Airbus A300-600R aircraft successfully landed on runway 28L at KORD Chicago O'Hare International Airport, achieving a score of 94.4%.
