MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,764 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,764 m of the 2,882 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 574 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 12 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 02 at LPPT Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon Portela Airport). The takeoff distance was 2,154 meters, which accounted for 69% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 167 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 16°C, with a wind speed of 29 knots at 279°.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it started its enroute climb overhead Camarate, a location in the Distrito de Lisboa, Portugal. The climb took 27 minutes and covered a distance of 201 nautical miles, with the aircraft rising from an altitude of 1,228 feet above sea level to 33,003 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,776 feet. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which started 2 miles northwest of Guisando, a location in Castilla y Leon, Spain. This cruise phase lasted for 90 minutes and covered a distance of 754 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent 35 miles southwest of Santa Marinella, a location in Lazio, Italy. The descent took 19 minutes and covered a distance of 46 nautical miles, with the aircraft decreasing its altitude from 33,029 feet above sea level to 1,265 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,764 feet. The final approach to runway 25 at LIRF Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 250.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,246 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 25 was successful, with the touchdown point being 161 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 151 knots, which was a little fast, but the touchdown rate was fair at -222 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the runway rollout alignment was also very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 14°C, with a wind speed of 21 knots at 240°.
Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,009 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 152 minutes. The aircraft used 7,750 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at LIRF Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, achieving a score of 93.9%. The final approach to runway 25 was conducted from the east, heading 250.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,246 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being satisfactory. However, the threshold speed was significantly above the target speed, reaching 156 knots. This indicates that the aircraft was descending at a faster rate than intended, which may have been due to the pilot's decision to flare the aircraft earlier than necessary.
The touchdown point was located 161 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 151 knots was slightly faster than the target speed, resulting in a touchdown rate of -222 feet per minute. While this is not ideal, it is still considered fair.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 14°C and a wind speed of 21 knots from 240°. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 21 knots, which the aircraft successfully managed.
The total landing distance of 1,687 meters was 59% of the runway length, indicating that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance. The runway rollout alignment was very good, with the aircraft maintaining a straight path after touchdown.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score despite some minor deviations from the target parameters. The pilots demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft, taking into account the challenging weather conditions.
