MY FS FLIGHTS

Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,635 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 380 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 26L at Miami International Airport (KMIA). The takeoff distance was 1,625 meters, which accounted for 51% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 157 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 30°C temperature and a wind speed of 6 knots at 340°. The crosswind was 6 knots, while the headwind was 2 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Virginia Gardens, Florida, and the aircraft ascended from 1,056 feet above sea level to 33,584 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,527 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 142 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 3 miles south of Alturas, Florida, and lasted for 65 minutes, covering a distance of 757 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent overhead I80 Noblesville Airport in Noblesville, Indiana. The descent from 34,096 feet above sea level to 2,760 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,336 feet in 17 minutes, covered a distance of 140 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise resumed 1 mile east of Woodridge, Illinois, and lasted for 4 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 13C at Chicago Midway International Airport (KMDW) was made from the northwest, heading 122.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,186 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 13C was successful, with a touchdown distance of 383 meters, which was 56% of the runway. The touchdown speed was 137 knots, which was a little fast, but the touchdown rate was firm at -353 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the runway rollout alignment was also very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 6°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 140°. The crosswind was 0 knots, while the headwind was 4 knots. The total landing distance was 915 meters, and the taxiing to the parking from the runway took 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 1,058 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 77 minutes. The aircraft used 7,616 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed on runway 13C at KMDW Chicago Midway International Airport, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in its approach and landing procedures. The aircraft's final approach was initiated from the northwest, heading 122.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,186 feet above ground level (agl).
The pilot's control of the aircraft during the final approach was excellent, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 145 knots, which is within the recommended range for a safe landing. The touchdown distance of 383 meters was also within the acceptable limits, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent and speed.
However, there was a slight deviation from the recommended touchdown speed, which was recorded at 137 knots, slightly above the ideal speed. This may have resulted in a firmer touchdown rate of -353 feet per minute (fpm), which is still within the acceptable limits but may have caused some minor vibrations or jolts during the landing.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot had maintained a stable and consistent approach path, and the aircraft landed very close to the centerline of the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 6°C and a headwind of 4 knots, did not pose any significant challenges to the landing.
The total landing distance of 915 meters, which accounts for 56% of the runway length, was also within the acceptable limits, and the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot had maintained control over the aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated a high level of skill and proficiency in navigating the aircraft through the final approach and landing phases.
