Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,831 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,831 m of the 3,002 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 741 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 26L at London Gatwick Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,526 meters, which accounted for 61% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 162 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 23°C, a wind speed of 17 knots at 239°, resulting in a 5-knot crosswind and a 16-knot headwind.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it began its enroute climb from 1,225 feet above sea level to 4,516 feet, an increase of 3,291 feet in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. This climb phase was followed by a brief level cruise, lasting 2 minutes and covering 5 nautical miles, which started 1 mile south-east of Ockley in Surrey, England. The aircraft then began another climb phase, this time from 4,961 feet to 5,978 feet, an increase of 1,017 feet in 2 minutes, covering 7 nautical miles, as it passed over Barns Green in West Sussex, England.
The enroute climb continued with the aircraft ascending from 5,986 feet to 35,497 feet, an increase of 29,510 feet in 18 minutes, covering 113 nautical miles. This climb phase was followed by a prolonged level cruise, lasting 27 minutes and covering 192 nautical miles, which started over Montreuil-l'Argille in Normandie, France. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent from 35,671 feet to 27,930 feet, a decrease of 7,741 feet in 2 minutes, covering 13 nautical miles.
The descent phase was followed by another climb phase, this time from 28,065 feet to 35,573 feet, an increase of 7,508 feet in 7 minutes, covering 48 nautical miles, as the aircraft passed over Le Chalard in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. The enroute climb continued with the aircraft ascending from 35,778 feet to 1,930 feet, a decrease of 33,848 feet in 19 minutes, covering 105 nautical miles, as it approached Región de Murcia International Airport in Spain.
The final approach to runway 23 at LEMI Región de Murcia International Airport was made from the north-east, with the aircraft heading 226.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,288 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with the touchdown point being 326 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 122 knots, which was good, but the touchdown rate was fair at -246 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.9 meters from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.6 meters from the centreline.
The total landing distance was 1,751 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 32°C, a wind speed of 12 knots at 130°, resulting in a 12-knot crosswind and a 1-knot tailwind. After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area, a process that took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 818 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 135 minutes, with the aircraft using 5,236 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LEMI Región de Murcia International Airport, achieving a score of 91.7%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north east, heading 226.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,288 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with good threshold height and threshold speed, reaching 133 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 326 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 122 knots, which was considered good. However, the touchdown rate was fair at -246 feet per minute (fpm). The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 8.9 meters, which may have contributed to the slightly misaligned runway rollout alignment by 8.6 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 32°C and a wind speed of 12 knots from a direction of 130°. This resulted in a crosswind of 12 knots and a tailwind of 1 knot. The total landing distance was 1,751 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway length. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with some minor deviations from the ideal performance.
