Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
At the 500 ft gate: off the centreline.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,042 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,042 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 586 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the departure roll from runway 27 at EDPM Donzdorf Airfield, where the aircraft, Sirius, took off with a takeoff distance of 163 meters, which accounted for 27% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 60 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 270 degrees, resulting in a negligible crosswind and a slight headwind.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb overhead Donzdorf, in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. The climb was from an altitude of 2,651 feet above sea level to 3,460 feet above sea level, an increase of 810 feet in just 1 minute, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which lasted for 5 minutes and covered a distance of 9 nautical miles, starting 1 mile west of Donzdorf.
The enroute descent began overhead Aichelberg, also in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. The descent was from an altitude of 3,446 feet above sea level to 1,772 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,674 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 30 at EDST Hahnweide Airfield was made from the southeast, heading 304.0 degrees at a distance of 1 nautical mile and an altitude of 603 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 30 at EDST Hahnweide Airfield, which had a length of 1,042 meters. However, the threshold height was significantly above the target, and the threshold speed was too high at 69 knots. The touchdown point was very long, using more than 50% of the available runway. The touchdown speed was good at 49 knots, and the touchdown rate was excellent at -96 feet per minute. Unfortunately, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 15.1 meters from the centerline.
The total landing distance was 699 meters, accounting for 67% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 16.3 meters from the centerline. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in just 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 16 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 12 minutes, during which the aircraft used 2 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft, identified as Sirius, has completed a landing at EDST Hahnweide Airfield, with a final approach from the south east. The aircraft's heading during the final approach was 304.0°, and it was at an altitude of 603 feet above ground level (agl) and 1 nautical mile from the runway. The landing was executed on runway 30, which has a length of 1,042 meters.
The approach and landing were not entirely successful, as the threshold height was significantly above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been too high during the final approach. Additionally, the threshold speed was too high at 69 knots, which could have contributed to the difficulties experienced during the landing. The touchdown point was also very long, using more than 50% of the available runway, which may have been due to the high speed and altitude at touchdown.
Despite these issues, the touchdown speed of 49 knots was good, and the touchdown rate of -96 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 15.1 meters from the centerline, which could have made the landing more challenging. The local weather conditions were relatively calm, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°, resulting in a negligible crosswind and headwind.
The total landing distance was 699 meters, which is 67% of the available runway length. This indicates that the aircraft was able to stop safely, but the long landing distance may have been due to the high speed and altitude at touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 16.3 meters from the centerline, which could have made the landing more difficult.
Overall, the landing was not entirely successful, with several issues experienced during the approach and touchdown. However, the aircraft was able to stop safely, and the touchdown speed and rate were good.
