Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,770 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,770 m of the 3,002 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 508 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300, then departed from runway 33L at KBOS Logan International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,067 meters, which accounted for 38% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 179 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of -0°C, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 280°.
As the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude, it passed overhead Chelsea, Massachusetts, and began its ascent from 1,061 feet above sea level to 33,046 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,985 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 102 nautical miles. The enroute climb started again at a later point, this time from 32,750 feet to 36,617 feet, an increase of 3,867 feet in 4 minutes, covering 38 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 116 minutes and covered a distance of 965 nautical miles. This was followed by another level cruise phase, which started 28 miles southwest of Matinicus Island Airport and lasted for 218 minutes, covering 1,809 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, first from 36,811 feet to 14,086 feet in 8 minutes, covering 8 nautical miles, and then from 14,093 feet to 3,176 feet in 12 minutes, covering 31 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 32R at LEMD Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport was made from the southeast, heading 322.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,201 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown point 91 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 120 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was fair at -211 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 6°C, with a wind speed of 3 knots at 359°.
The total landing distance was 1,687 meters, which accounted for 56% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 6 minutes, covering a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 2,991 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 394 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 45,629 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at LEMD Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport on runway 32R. The final approach was executed from the southeast, heading 322.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,201 feet above ground level. The aircraft maintained a good score of 99.2% throughout the approach.
Upon landing, the threshold height was reported as good, and the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 132 knots. The touchdown point was 91 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 120 knots was within the acceptable range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown rate of -211 feet per minute was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have maintained a more gradual descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 6°C and a wind speed of 3 knots from 359°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was also 2 knots. These conditions contributed to a relatively stable and predictable landing environment.
The total landing distance of 1,687 meters was 56% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was reported as perfect, indicating that the aircraft maintained a stable and controlled trajectory during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was executed safely and efficiently, with the aircraft maintaining a high level of control and stability throughout the approach and rollout phases. The minor deviations in touchdown point and touchdown rate did not significantly impact the overall performance of the landing.
