MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,671 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,671 m of the 2,501 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 554 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight in question started with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nm. As the aircraft, an Airbus A321, prepared for departure, it rolled down runway 08R at Munich Airport (EDDM). The takeoff distance was 1,646 meters, which accounted for 41% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 167 knots, and it was a clear day at the airport with a temperature of 3°C and gentle winds of 3 knots at 120 degrees.
After takeoff, the aircraft began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile south east of EDDM Munich Airport. Over the next 14 minutes, the aircraft climbed from 2,509 feet above sea level to 26,228 feet, an increase of 23,719 feet. This section of the flight covered a distance of 78 nm. Following a brief level cruise, the aircraft began another climb, this time from 26,852 feet to 35,185 feet, an increase of 8,333 feet, over a period of 7 minutes and covering 48 nm.
The enroute level cruise lasted for 14 minutes, covering a distance of 97 nm, and took place 2 miles south east of Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. As the aircraft continued on its journey, it began its descent, starting 3 miles north west of Krizpolje, Croatia. The descent from 35,765 feet to 1,528 feet took 17 minutes and covered 54 nm. The aircraft made a final approach to runway 13 at Zadar Airport (LDZD) from the north west, heading towards the airport.
After a successful landing on runway 13, the aircraft touched down 136 meters beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 129 knots. However, the touchdown rate was slightly higher than desired at -294 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was also slightly misaligned by 3.4 meters from the centerline. The total landing distance was 1,589 meters, which accounted for 64% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was excellent.
After landing, the taxiing period to the parking took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 300 nm, with a total flight time of 71 minutes and the aircraft used 3,230 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at LDZD Zadar Airport, achieving a score of 94.0%. The final approach to runway 13 was initiated from the north-west, heading 136.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,254 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway, with the threshold height being slightly above the target at 59 feet agl. However, the threshold speed was satisfactory at 139 knots, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown point was located 136 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing spot.
The touchdown speed of 129 knots was within the acceptable range, signifying a controlled and stable landing. However, the touchdown rate of -294 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft may have experienced a slightly higher-than-desired rate of descent during the final stages of the landing.
In terms of runway alignment, the aircraft's touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.4 meters from the centerline, which may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 10°C, with a wind speed of 2 knots at 99°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 2 knots, which may have contributed to the slight deviation from the centerline.
The total landing distance of 1,589 meters was 64% of the available runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively, allowing for a stable and controlled deceleration.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft achieving a satisfactory score of 94.0%. However, there were some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters, which may be addressed through further training and refinement of the pilot's skills.
