Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,605 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 208 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an ATR 72, then departed from runway 13 at ULMM Murmansk Airport. The takeoff distance was 730 meters, which accounted for 29% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 119 knots, and the local weather conditions were quite cold, with a temperature of -32 °C and a wind speed of 0 knots at 150 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed out of Murmansk Airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead the airport. The climb took 8 minutes and covered 21 nautical miles, with the aircraft ascending from 1,143 feet above sea level to 12,199 feet above sea level, a total increase of 11,057 feet. The enroute level cruise then began 7 miles southwest of UZAO Kilpyavr Air Base, and it lasted for 17 minutes, covering 52 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 6 miles northwest of Nikel, and it took 7 minutes to descend from 12,025 feet above sea level to 1,126 feet above sea level, a total decrease of 10,899 feet. The descent covered 15 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 23 at ENKR Kirkenes Airport, Høybuktmoen, was made from the east, with a heading of 250.0 degrees at 2 nautical miles and 831 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 23 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 206 meters, which was 48% of the runway length. The touchdown speed was 102 knots, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -120 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.3 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of -23 °C and a wind speed of 8 knots at 180 degrees.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking, which took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 93 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 35 minutes. The aircraft used 335 kilograms of fuel during the flight. Overall, the flight was successful, with good threshold height, threshold speed, touchdown distance, and runway rollout alignment.
The ATR 72 aircraft successfully landed at ENKR Kirkenes Airport, Høybuktmoen, with a score of 98.9%. The final approach to runway 23 was initiated from the east, heading 250.0° at a distance of 2 nautical miles and an altitude of 831 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 109 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft demonstrated a good touchdown distance of 206 meters, and the touchdown speed was within acceptable limits at 102 knots. The touchdown rate was smooth, with a descent rate of -120 feet per minute (fpm). However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.3 meters from the centerline, which may require some adjustments during future landings.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -23°C, with a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 180°. The crosswind component was 7 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots. Despite these conditions, the aircraft performed well, with a total landing distance of 765 meters, which accounted for approximately 48% of the runway length.
The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft's brakes and control surfaces were functioning effectively. Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft's performance was satisfactory, considering the challenging weather conditions.
