Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,958 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,958 m of the 3,026 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 574 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 6 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 28 at LPFR Faro Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,654 meters, which accounted for 69% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 158 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 22°C, a wind speed of 8 knots at 200°, with a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 1 knot.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 1 mile west of LPFR Faro Airport, rising from an altitude of 1,027 feet above sea level to 36,038 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,011 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 127 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then commenced 1 mile northwest of Malcocinado, Spain, and lasted for 169 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 1,333 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 2 miles west of Lipnica, Poland, and involved a decrease in altitude from 35,495 feet above sea level to 1,640 feet above sea level, a drop of 33,855 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 87 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 33 at EPWA Warsaw Chopin Airport was made from the southeast, with the aircraft heading 332.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,275 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 33 at EPWA Warsaw Chopin Airport was successful, with the aircraft touching down 156 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 123 knots, which was considered good, and the touchdown rate was firm at -382 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, but the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 21°C, a wind speed of 5 knots at 240°, with a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 0 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,875 meters, which accounted for 62% of the runway. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,554 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 223 minutes, during which the aircraft used 8,487 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at EPWA Warsaw Chopin Airport, achieving a score of 87.7%. The final approach to runway 33 was initiated from the south east, heading 332.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,275 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was well-executed, with a threshold height that was well above the target, indicating a safe margin for landing.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway at a speed of 123 knots, which was within the acceptable range. The touchdown point was 156 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, but this was not considered a significant deviation. The touchdown rate was firm at -382 feet per minute (fpm), which is a typical value for a commercial airliner. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 21°C and a wind speed of 5 knots from 240°. This resulted in a crosswind of 5 knots and a headwind of 0 knots, which did not pose any significant challenges for the aircraft. The total landing distance was 1,875 meters, which is 62% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured for landing.
However, there was a slight deviation in the runway rollout alignment, with the aircraft being 8.7 meters off-centerline. This was not a significant issue, but it did indicate that the aircraft's brakes were not fully effective in bringing the aircraft to a stop. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop within a reasonable distance from the runway threshold.
