Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,347 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 433 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A330-900 taxied from the parking area to runway 16 at RJFF Fukuoka Airport in 10 minutes, covering 2 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 16, the aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 168 kt and left the ground after traveling 1,639 m, which represented 59 % of the runway length; local weather was 29 °C with a wind of 3 kt from 120°, including a 1 kt crosswind and a 2 kt headwind.
Climb commenced approximately 1 mile southeast of RJFF, with the airplane ascending from 1,095 ft asl to 36,000 ft asl, an increase of 34,905 ft achieved in 22 minutes while covering 136 nm.
Level cruise began 15 miles southeast of RJFE Fukue Airport and continued for 70 minutes, during which the flight covered 543 nm.
Descent was initiated 37 miles northeast of Jiufen, Taiwan, with the aircraft descending from 35,609 ft asl to 1,382 ft asl, a loss of 34,227 ft in 19 minutes over a distance of 101 nm.
The final approach to runway 05R at RCTP Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport was flown from the southwest on a heading of 49.0° at 4 nm and 1,288 ft agl; subsequently the aircraft descended from 1,339 ft agl to 81 ft agl in 105 seconds and was scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing on runway 05R, which is 3,347 m long, was executed with a threshold speed of 148 kt; touchdown occurred 430 m down the runway at a speed of 145 kt, a firm touchdown rate of minus 391 fpm, and perfect alignment, while local conditions were 29 °C with a wind of 10 kt from 40°, including a 2 kt crosswind and a 10 kt headwind.
The rollout distance measured 1,158 m, representing 35 % of the runway, and the alignment during rollout was judged very good.
After exiting the runway, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 792 nm, required 124 minutes, and consumed 11,484 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A330-900 entered the final approach to runway 05R at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport from the south-west on a heading of 49.0° at 4 nm and 1,288 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits, and the aircraft descended from 1,339 ft agl to 81 ft agl in 105 seconds.
At threshold the height was good and the threshold speed was good at 148 kt. The aircraft crossed the threshold and began the flare, maintaining the correct height and attitude.
Touchdown occurred 430 m down the runway with a touchdown speed of 145 kt, noted as a little fast, and a firm touchdown rate of minus 391 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,158 m, representing 35 % of the 3,347 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was very good. Local weather was 29 °C with wind 10 kt from 40°, including a 2 kt crosswind and a 10 kt headwind.
The 75.7 % score reflects a solid performance; reducing the touchdown speed slightly and refining flare technique to soften the firm touchdown will bring the landing closer to optimal parameters.
