Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,654 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,654 m of the 3,758 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 615 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took approximately 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 20 at VNKT Tribhuvan International Airport. The takeoff distance was 938 meters, which accounted for 32% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 136 knots.
As the aircraft took off, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 18°C and wind speeds of 3 knots at 245°. The crosswind was 2 knots, and the headwind was also 2 knots. After departing from Tribhuvan International Airport, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile west of Madhyapur Thimi in the Bagmati Province of Nepal. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 5,313 feet above sea level to 38,783 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,470 feet in 31 minutes, covering a distance of 225 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 3 miles north of Dumka in the State of Jharkhand, India, and lasted for 141 minutes, covering a distance of 1,308 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, which started 52 miles southwest of WMKL Langkawi International Airport in Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 38,951 feet above sea level to 1,294 feet above sea level, a decrease of 37,657 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 118 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 23 at WIMM Kualanamu International Airport was made from the northeast, heading 225.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,258 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 23 was successful, with a touchdown point 192 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 111 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was also good at -189 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.4 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 26°C and wind speeds of 1 knot at 335°. The crosswind was 1 knot, and the headwind was 0 knots. The total landing distance was 1,567 meters, which accounted for 42% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,658 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 191 minutes. The aircraft used 8,806 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at WIMM Kualanamu International Airport, achieving a high score of 97.0%. The final approach to runway 23 was initiated from the north east, heading 225.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,258 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 123 knots. The touchdown point was located 192 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 111 knots was within acceptable limits, and the touchdown rate of -189 feet per minute was also good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 26°C and a gentle wind of 1 knot from 335°. This resulted in a minimal crosswind component of 1 knot and no headwind. The runway length of 3,758 meters provided ample space for the aircraft to land and roll out safely.
The total landing distance of 1,567 meters was 42% of the available runway length, which is a relatively short distance. The runway rollout alignment was excellent, indicating that the aircraft was well under control during the landing roll. Overall, the landing was executed smoothly, and the aircraft came to a stop in a safe and controlled manner.
