Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,866 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 366 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The TL3000 Sirius departed from runway 23 at EGPE Inverness Airport; the take-off roll measured 223 m, which is 12 % of the runway length, and liftoff was achieved at 63 kt. Local conditions were temperature 15 °C, wind 2 kt from 270°, with a 1 kt cross-wind and a 2 kt head-wind.
The aircraft entered the left-hand pattern for runway 23, covering a distance of 1 nm in 30 seconds.
It then proceeded on the left-hand cross-wind leg, traveling less than 1 nm in 26 seconds.
During the downwind turn the aircraft described a 2 nm arc with a 45-degree angle to the runway measured at 65.7 °.
The downwind leg extended 2 nm and was completed in 67 seconds.
The base turn spanned 2 nm with a 45-degree angle to the runway of 63.4 °.
The base leg was 1 nm long and lasted 62 seconds.
The final turn was less than 1 nm and required 28 seconds to align with the runway.
Landing was executed on runway 23, whose total length is 1,866 m. Threshold speed was 55 kt; touchdown occurred 363 m from the threshold at 42 kt with a vertical speed of minus 38 fpm. Total landing distance was 538 m, representing 29 % of the runway, and runway alignment at touchdown and rollout were reported as perfect.
Runway rollout alignment remained perfect throughout the deceleration phase.
Overall, the flight covered a distance of 7nm, taking 6, and used 0 kg of fuel.
The aircraft crossed the threshold at a good height and established the required threshold speed of 55 kt, both described as good. The flare placed the main wheels down 363 m from the runway threshold, and the touchdown speed of 42 kt was noted as a little fast. The vertical speed at touchdown was perfect at minus 38 fpm and the aircraft was aligned perfectly with the runway centreline.
Touchdown occurred with the aircraft aligned perfectly on the runway, the speed remaining slightly above the ideal value at 42 kt, while the descent rate of minus 38 fpm met the perfect rating. The distance from the threshold to the point of touchdown remained within the good range at 363 m.
Rollout continued with the aircraft covering a total landing distance of 538 m, representing 29 % of the 1,866 m runway, and the rollout alignment was perfect throughout the deceleration phase.
With a score of 93.3 %, the landing was strong overall; reducing the touchdown speed marginally will bring it closer to the target without affecting the excellent alignment and rollout performance.
