Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,809 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,809 m of the 3,601 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 776 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 32R at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (WMKK). The takeoff distance was 1,736 meters, which accounted for 43% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 155 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of Kuala Lumpur, it encountered local weather conditions of 32°C temperature and winds of 2 knots at 72°. The crosswind was 2 knots, while the tailwind was 1 knot. The enroute climb started 2 miles north of the airport and took the aircraft from 1,077 feet above sea level to 36,879 feet above sea level, an increase of 35,802 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 77 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 19 miles south of Muar, Malaysia, and lasted for 58 minutes, covering a distance of 426 nautical miles. The aircraft then started its enroute descent 74 miles northeast of Way Jepara, Indonesia, and descended from 37,487 feet above sea level to 1,317 feet above sea level, a decrease of 36,170 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 118 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 25R at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (WIII) was made from the east, heading 248.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,277 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 25R was successful, with the touchdown point being 356 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 124 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was excellent at -95 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 28°C temperature and winds of 12 knots at 290°. The crosswind was 8 knots, while the headwind was 9 knots. The total landing distance was 1,725 meters, which accounted for 48% of the runway. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 10.3 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.9 meters from the centerline.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 8 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 630 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 118 minutes. The aircraft used 4,676 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at WIII Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, with a final approach score of 88.3%. The aircraft was approaching runway 25R from the east, heading 248.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,277 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on a runway with a length of 3,601 meters.
The threshold height at 57 feet agl was slightly above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 135 knots. The touchdown point was 356 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 124 knots, which was considered good. The touchdown rate was excellent at -95 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
However, there were some minor issues with the landing. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 10.3 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.9 meters from the centerline. Despite these minor deviations, the total landing distance was 1,725 meters, which is 48% of the runway length.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 28°C and a wind speed of 12 knots at 290°. The crosswind was 8 knots, and the headwind was 9 knots, which may have contributed to the slight misalignment of the touchdown and rollout positions. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with a good touchdown speed and rate, but with some minor deviations from the ideal landing position.
