Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 2,004 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 2,004 m of the 4,013 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 509 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 30R at Dubai International Airport (OMDB). The takeoff distance was 1,991 meters, which was 55% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 167 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 27°C and a wind speed of 3 knots at 130°.
As the aircraft climbed out of Dubai, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile northwest of the airport and reached an altitude of 32,878 feet above sea level (asl). The climb was a significant increase of 31,846 feet in just 21 minutes, covering a distance of 115 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which started 14 miles north of Liwa Airport (OMLW) and lasted for 56 minutes, covering a distance of 352 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another enroute climb, this time from 32,873 feet asl to 36,978 feet asl, an increase of 4,105 feet in just 7 minutes, covering a distance of 42 nautical miles. The level cruise phase that followed started 12 miles southwest of Hawtah Airport (OEHW) and lasted for 56 minutes, covering a distance of 348 nautical miles.
As the aircraft continued its journey, it began its enroute descent, which started 3 miles east of Al Bayda` and descended from 36,914 feet asl to 29,026 feet asl, a decrease of 7,888 feet in just 4 minutes, covering a distance of 28 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 43 miles northeast of Al Jumum and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another enroute descent, which started 31 miles north of Al Jumum and descended from 28,699 feet asl to 3,016 feet asl, a decrease of 25,682 feet in 15 minutes, covering a distance of 49 nautical miles. The level cruise phase that followed started 9 miles east of Jeddah and lasted for 4 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began its final descent, which started 7 miles southeast of Jeddah and descended from 2,585 feet asl to 1,893 feet asl, a decrease of 691 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another descent, which started 3 miles northeast of Jeddah and descended from 1,884 feet asl to 1,322 feet asl, a decrease of 562 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 34R at King Abdulaziz International Airport (OEJN) was made from the south, heading 340.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,284 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was made on runway 34R, which had a length of 4,013 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 152 knots.
The touchdown point was 98 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 147 knots. However, the touchdown rate was good at -166 feet per minute (fpm), and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 28°C and a wind speed of 11 knots at 350°.
The total landing distance was 1
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at OEJN King Abdulaziz International Airport on runway 34R. The final approach was executed from the south, heading 340.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,284 feet above ground level. The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly above the target threshold speed of 152 knots, registering at 152 kn. However, the touchdown point was 98 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may indicate a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 147 knots was also a bit faster than desired, but the touchdown rate of -166 feet per minute was within acceptable limits.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the landing. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 28°C and a wind speed of 11 knots from a direction of 350°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 11 knots, which helped to reduce the landing distance.
The total landing distance of 1,929 meters was 48% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly controlled during the rollout phase of the landing.
Overall, the landing was executed safely and efficiently, with the aircraft touching down on the runway and coming to a stop without any issues. The pilots' skills and experience were evident in their ability to navigate the aircraft through the final approach and landing phases, despite the slight deviations from the target speeds and touchdown point.
