Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,689 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,689 m of the 3,060 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 543 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300, then departed from runway 29 at MMMY Monterrey International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,118 meters, which accounted for 37% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 168 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 0 knots at 225 degrees.
As the aircraft climbed out of Monterrey, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile northwest of the airport. The climb took 16 minutes and covered a distance of 92 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 2,323 feet above sea level to 37,187 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,865 feet. The enroute level cruise then began 9 miles northeast of El Chorrito, Mexico, and lasted for 169 minutes, covering a distance of 1,351 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 62 miles northeast of Bocas del Toro, Panama, and took 24 minutes to complete, during which the aircraft descended from 36,924 feet above sea level to 1,304 feet above sea level, a decrease of 35,621 feet. The descent covered a distance of 126 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 03R at MPTO Tocumen International Airport was made from the southwest, with a heading of 29.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,252 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 03R was successful, with the touchdown point being 130 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 138 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. The touchdown rate was fair at -255 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots at 0 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,611 meters, which accounted for 53% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, and the taxiing to the parking from the runway took 4 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,577 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 220 minutes. The aircraft used 25,158 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at MPTO Tocumen International Airport, achieving a score of 96.8%. The final approach to runway 03R was initiated from the southwest, heading 29.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,252 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 130 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is slightly outside the target area. The touchdown speed of 138 knots was a bit faster than the target speed, indicating that the pilot may have needed to apply more braking force to bring the aircraft to a stop. However, the touchdown rate of -255 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, suggesting that the pilot was able to manage the descent effectively.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 31°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 0°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots, which helped to stabilize the aircraft during the landing.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain a stable and aligned approach to the runway. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, suggesting that the pilot was able to smoothly transition from the landing phase to the rollout phase.
The total landing distance of 1,611 meters was 53% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the pilot demonstrating good control and management of the aircraft during the approach and landing phases.
