Arrival
Time the turn onto base by bank angle so you roll out at the proper 45 degree angle to the runway, not sooner or later.
What happened: The turn from downwind onto base was rolled out at the wrong angle to the runway rather than the intended 45 degree join.
Watch for: Watch your angle to the runway through the base turn, aiming to roll out at 45 degrees.
Bank angle in the pattern is conventionally kept to 20 to 30 degrees, and the base-to-final turn is where that convention earns its keep. Stall speed rises with bank because the wing must produce more lift in a turn. Roughly 7 per cent higher at 30 degrees, about 19 per cent at 45, and around 40 per cent at 60. At 65 kt on base you don't have much margin to spend steepening a turn to salvage an overshoot.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,490 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 180 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The TL3000 Sirius taxied to runway 23 at EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde and commenced the departure roll, achieving a take-off distance of 356 m (14 % of the runway). Liftoff occurred at 63 kt. Ambient conditions were 15 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 270°, a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind component.
After lift-off, the aircraft entered a left-hand pattern from runway 23, covering less than 1 nm in 27 seconds.
The subsequent left-hand cross-wind leg also spanned less than 1 nm and required 28 seconds to complete.
During the down-wind turn the aircraft described a 2 nm arc, establishing a 78.1° angle to the runway centreline (45° reference).
The down-wind leg itself measured 1 nm and was flown in 55 seconds.
A base-leg turn followed, again covering 1 nm while attaining a 77.5° angle to the runway (45° reference).
The base leg was another 1 nm segment, completed in 71 seconds.
The final turn into the approach path was less than 1 nm and lasted 27 seconds.
Landing was executed on runway 23, whose length is 2 490 m. The threshold height was satisfactory and the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 49 kt. Touchdown occurred 180 m from the threshold at 44 kt with a vertical speed of minus 32 fpm, and runway alignment at touchdown was perfect. Weather at the time of landing remained 15 °C with a wind of 2 kt from 269°, a 1 kt cross-wind and a 2 kt head-wind. The total landing distance recorded was 337 m (14 % of the runway) and rollout alignment remained perfect.
The rollout proceeded without deviation, maintaining the precise runway centreline until the aircraft came to a stop.
In total the flight covered 7 nm, taking 6 and consumed 1 kg of fuel.
The final approach to runway 36 at EDFB Reichelsheim Airfield was conducted with a descent from 454 ft agl to 30 ft agl in 45 seconds and was scored on the stabilisation gates. Local weather was 20 °C with wind 2 kt from 083°, a 2 kt cross-wind component and no head-wind.
At threshold the height was good and the threshold speed was slightly below target at 72 kt.
Touchdown occurred 281 m down the runway at a speed of 61 kt, with a vertical rate of minus 57 fpm and a lateral deviation of 5.3 m from the centreline.
The rollout covered a total distance of 710 m, representing 55 % of the 1 293 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was very good.
Fine-tune the approach speed to meet the target value and make small adjustments to maintain centreline alignment within a tighter tolerance; the overall performance was strong with a score of 87.2 %.
