Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,736 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,736 m of the 2,209 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 755 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-MAX8, then departed from runway 10L at SBGR André Franco Montoro International Airport in São Paulo, Brazil. The takeoff distance was 2,334 meters, which was 66% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 172 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 24°C, with a wind speed of 3 knots at a direction of 60°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 3 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 2 miles east of the airport, rising from an altitude of 3,489 feet above sea level to 31,051 feet above sea level, an increase of 27,563 feet, in 14 minutes and covering a distance of 62 nautical miles.
The enroute climb was followed by a level cruise, which started 15 miles north of Miracatu, São Paulo, Brazil, and lasted for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 45 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent 5 miles north of Pariquera Acu, São Paulo, Brazil, and descended from 30,978 feet above sea level to 18,655 feet above sea level, a decrease of 12,323 feet, in 6 minutes and covering a distance of 40 nautical miles.
The enroute descent was followed by another level cruise, which started 25 miles northeast of Antonina, Parana, Brazil, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent 17 miles north of Antonina, Parana, Brazil, and descended from 18,655 feet above sea level to 4,261 feet above sea level, a decrease of 14,394 feet, in 11 minutes and covering a distance of 39 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 15 at SBCT Afonso Pena Airport was made from the northwest, with a heading of 135.0° at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,276 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 15, which had a length of 2,209 meters. The threshold height at 65 feet above ground level was above the target, but the threshold speed was good at 142 knots.
The touchdown point was 342 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 129 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was also good at -189 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.7 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 18°C, with a wind speed of 0 knots at a direction of 270°.
The total landing distance was 1,658 meters, which was 75% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.5 meters from the centerline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 202 nautical miles, taking 52 minutes, and the aircraft used 1,828 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft successfully landed at SBCT Afonso Pena Airport, achieving a score of 90.2%. The final approach to runway 15 was initiated from the north-west, with a heading of 135.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,276 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully touched down on the runway, with a touchdown speed of 129 knots, which was within the acceptable range.
The threshold height at 65 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than desired at the point of touchdown. However, the threshold speed of 142 knots was good, indicating that the aircraft was properly configured for landing. The touchdown point was 342 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation.
The local weather conditions were favorable for landing, with a temperature of 18°C and a wind speed of 0 knots from 270°. This resulted in a crosswind and headwind of 0 knots, making the landing conditions ideal. The total landing distance of 1,658 meters was 75% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
However, there were some minor issues with the landing. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.7 meters from the centerline, and the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 9.5 meters from the centerline. These deviations are relatively minor and may be due to factors such as wind shear or pilot error.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft was able to come to a stop within a reasonable distance. The minor deviations from the centerline may be addressed through further training or adjustments to the aircraft's configuration.
