Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,724 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,724 m of the 2,301 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 738 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 36L at EHAM Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The takeoff distance was 1,404 meters, which is 40% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 160 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 4 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 22 knots at a direction of 70 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 20 knots and a headwind of 9 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile east of Vijfhuizen in the Provincie Noord-Holland, The Netherlands. The climb took 19 minutes and covered a distance of 102 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from 1,023 feet above sea level to 35,713 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,690 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started overhead Altenberge in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. This phase lasted for 46 minutes and covered a distance of 344 nautical miles. The enroute descent then began 1 mile south of Oborniki in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, Poland. The descent took 29 minutes and covered a distance of 149 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from 35,915 feet above sea level to 1,637 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,278 feet.
The final approach to runway 11 at EPWA Warsaw Chopin Airport was made from the west, with a heading of 116.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,272 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 11, which has a length of 2,301 meters. The threshold height was well above the target, and the threshold speed was also well above the target at 155 knots. The touchdown point was 300 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 146 knots, which was fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -204 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -2 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots at a direction of 90 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 7 knots. The total landing distance was 1,621 meters, which is 70% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 606 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 116 minutes. The aircraft used 4,135 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at EPWA Warsaw Chopin Airport, with a score of 86.2%. The final approach to runway 11 was initiated from the west, heading 116.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,272 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft's approach was characterized by a high threshold height, which was well above the target, indicating a slightly higher-than-ideal approach path.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed 300 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively long distance. The touchdown speed of 146 knots was also faster than the target speed, suggesting that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more aggressively to reduce the touchdown speed. However, the touchdown rate of -204 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, indicating a relatively smooth touchdown.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of -2°C and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 90°. The crosswind component was relatively light at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 7 knots, which helped to reduce the aircraft's ground speed and improve the landing performance.
The total landing distance of 1,621 meters was 70% of the available runway length, which is a relatively long distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and align it with the runway centerline. Overall, the landing was considered successful, but there were some areas for improvement, such as reducing the touchdown speed and improving the threshold height.
