MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 500 ft gate: speed above the reference speed.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,495 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 403 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Hamburg Helmut Schmidt Airport, the Airbus A321 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took approximately 6 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. With the local weather conditions at 12°C and a wind speed of 18 kt at 199°, the aircraft took off from runway 23, utilizing 1,081 meters, or 39% of the runway's length, to achieve liftoff at a speed of 154 kt.
As the aircraft climbed to its initial cruising altitude, it began its ascent from 1,035 feet above sea level to 36,009 feet, a vertical increase of 34,974 feet, in 21 minutes and covering 128 nautical miles. The enroute climb phase was followed by a level cruise, which started over Westerbork, Netherlands, and lasted for 18 minutes, covering 123 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, initially from 36,031 feet to 29,008 feet, a decrease of 7,023 feet, in 3 minutes and covering 24 nautical miles. The subsequent level cruise phases and descents took the aircraft over various locations in the Netherlands, Belgium, and England, before it began its final approach to runway 26L at London Gatwick Airport.
The Airbus A321 touched down on runway 26L, which was 2,495 meters long, with a touchdown speed of 132 kt, slightly above the target speed. The touchdown distance was 400 meters, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.2 meters from the centerline. The aircraft utilized 4,388 kilograms of fuel for the flight, which covered a total distance of 412 nautical miles, taking approximately 86 minutes. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 8 minutes and covered 2 nautical miles.
The aircraft touched down on runway 26L at EGKK London Gatwick Airport, a 2,495-meter-long runway, after a final approach from the east. The approach quality was good, with a threshold height that met expectations. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 141 knots, indicating a slight deviation from the ideal approach speed.
The touchdown characteristics were generally satisfactory, with a touchdown distance of 400 meters, which was within acceptable limits. The touchdown speed of 132 knots was a little fast, suggesting that the pilot may have been slightly behind the power-off glide slope. The touchdown rate of -255 feet per minute was fair, indicating a moderate deceleration upon touchdown. Unfortunately, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 8.2 meters from the centreline, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach path or a miscalculation of the wind drift.
The aircraft's rollout was well-handled, with excellent alignment on the runway centreline. The total landing distance of 1,114 meters, which accounted for 45% of the runway length, was acceptable. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 11°C and a wind of 30 knots at 210°, contributed to the overall performance of the landing. Overall, the landing scored 96.1%, reflecting a good but not outstanding performance.
