Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,031 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,031 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 361 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report

The aircraft, a FFX P180, then departed from runway 17R at LIMC Milan Malpensa International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,148 meters, which accounted for 33% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 134 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 22°C and a wind speed of 9 knots at 240°. The crosswind was 9 knots, while the headwind was 3 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile west of Ferno, Lombardia, Italy, and the aircraft climbed from 1,733 feet above sea level to 21,746 feet above sea level, an increase of 20,013 feet in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 25 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began overhead Camparada, Lombardia, Italy, and lasted for 30 minutes, covering a distance of 123 nautical miles. The enroute descent started overhead Grandcour, Canton de Vaud, Switzerland, and the aircraft descended from 21,931 feet above sea level to 2,530 feet above sea level, a decrease of 19,401 feet in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 39 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 23 at LFQM Besançon-La Vèze Airfield was made from the north-east, heading 233.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,258 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 23 was successful, with a runway length of 1,031 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 118 knots. The touchdown distance was 361 meters, and the touchdown speed was 111 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was smooth at -146 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 13°C and a wind speed of 11 knots at 258°. The crosswind was 5 knots, while the headwind was 10 knots. The total landing distance was 836 meters, which accounted for 81% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking area took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile.

The aircraft, identified as FFX P180 03 01, successfully landed at LFQM Besançon-La Vèze Airfield, showcasing a high level of proficiency in its landing maneuver. The aircraft approached the runway from the north east, aligning itself with the runway at a heading of 233.0°, approximately 4 nautical miles away and at an altitude of 1,258 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated excellent control, touching down on the runway at a speed of 118 kt, which was within the acceptable threshold speed. The touchdown distance of 361 meters was also well within the expected range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown speed of 111 kt was also satisfactory, and the rate of descent was a smooth -146 feet per minute, further emphasizing the pilot's skill in executing a precise landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 13°C and a moderate headwind of 10 kt. The crosswind component was relatively minor at 5 kt, which did not appear to pose any significant challenges for the pilot. The runway length of 1,031 meters was sufficient for the aircraft to come to a stop, with the total landing distance of 836 meters accounting for only 81% of the available runway.
The post-landing rollout was also executed flawlessly, with the aircraft maintaining perfect alignment with the runway. This level of precision and control is a testament to the pilot's expertise and the aircraft's capabilities.
