Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,074 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 293 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an Airbus A319, then departed from runway 09 at LFLS Grenoble-Isère Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,448 meters, which is 47% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 147 knots, and the local weather conditions were a temperature of 8°C, with a wind speed of 3 knots at 117°.
As the aircraft climbed, it started to ascend from 2,346 feet above sea level to 18,339 feet above sea level, an increase of 15,993 feet in 7 minutes, covering a distance of 28 nautical miles. The climb continued from 18,718 feet above sea level to 34,896 feet above sea level, an increase of 16,178 feet in 11 minutes, covering a distance of 78 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, lasting 25 minutes, covering a distance of 181 nautical miles, while flying over Noyers in Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, France.
The aircraft then began its descent from 34,997 feet above sea level to 7,703 feet above sea level, a decrease of 27,294 feet in 29 minutes, covering a distance of 136 nautical miles. The descent continued from 7,687 feet above sea level to 5,410 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,277 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, lasting 2 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles, while flying over Pulloxhill in Central Bedfordshire, England.
The final descent phase began from 4,749 feet above sea level to 2,868 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,881 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, lasting 3 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles, while flying over Marsworth in Buckinghamshire, England.
The final approach to runway 07 at EGGW London Luton Airport was made from the west, heading 74.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,281 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with a touchdown distance of 293 meters, a touchdown speed of 130 knots, and a touchdown rate of -353 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.6 meters from the centreline.
The total landing distance was 1,170 meters, which is 56% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 516 nautical miles, taking 105 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,796 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A319 successfully landed at EGGW London Luton Airport, achieving a score of 98.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 74.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,281 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 07, which has a length of 2,074 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down with a speed of 130 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. The touchdown distance was good, measuring 293 meters. However, the touchdown speed was a little fast, indicating that the pilots may have needed to apply more braking to slow down the aircraft. The touchdown rate was firm, at -353 feet per minute (fpm), which is a typical rate for a commercial airliner.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline, by 3.6 meters. This may have been due to a slight deviation in the aircraft's heading or a miscalculation of the approach path. Despite this, the runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilots were able to maintain control of the aircraft and align it with the runway centerline during the rollout phase.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 5°C and a wind speed of 14 knots from a direction of 40°. This resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 12 knots. The pilots successfully managed these conditions, and the aircraft landed safely on the runway.
Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop within 1,170 meters of the runway threshold, which is 56% of the runway length. The pilots demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft during the approach and landing phases, and the aircraft performed as expected.
