Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,783 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 270 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A321 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Westerland Sylt Airport, taking 11 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 32, with a takeoff distance of 1,488 meters, which is 70% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 155 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 12°C temperature and winds of 17 knots at 79°. The crosswind was 15 knots, while the tailwind was 7 knots. The enroute climb started 1 mile northeast of Westerland, where the aircraft climbed from 1,080 feet above sea level to 22,773 feet, an increase of 21,693 feet in 13 minutes, covering a distance of 51 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 1 mile north of Borgwedel, lasting 5 minutes and covering 40 nautical miles. The aircraft then started another enroute climb overhead Klein Roennau, where it climbed from 22,747 feet to 30,098 feet, an increase of 7,352 feet in 7 minutes, covering 48 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise resumed 1 mile south of Kirch Mulsow, lasting 24 minutes and covering 163 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its enroute descent 1 mile southeast of Manowo, Poland, descending from 29,452 feet to 6,544 feet in 13 minutes, covering 67 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise started again 1 mile west of Przywidz, lasting 2 minutes and covering 7 nautical miles. The enroute descent resumed 1 mile south of Pregowo, where the aircraft descended from 6,456 feet to 1,797 feet in 6 minutes, covering 8 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 29 at Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport took place from the southeast, heading 295.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,288 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 29 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 268 meters and a touchdown speed of 126 knots. The touchdown rate was heavy at -606 feet per minute, but the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 7.3 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 1°C temperature and winds of 33 knots at 0°. The crosswind was 30 knots, while the headwind was 13 knots. The total landing distance was 1,364 meters, which is 49% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The total flight distance was 393 nautical miles, taking 83 minutes and using 4,332 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 aircraft successfully landed at EPGD Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport, achieving a score of 93.2%. The final approach to runway 29 was initiated from the south east, with a heading of 295.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,288 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 136 knots. The touchdown distance of 268 meters was within acceptable limits, and the touchdown speed of 126 knots was also good. However, the touchdown rate was slightly heavy at -606 feet per minute, indicating a slightly steeper descent than ideal.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 7.3 meters, which may require some adjustments in the approach procedure to achieve a more precise alignment. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 1°C, with a wind speed of 33 knots from a direction of 0°. This resulted in a crosswind of 30 knots and a headwind of 13 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,364 meters was 49% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and controlled descent during the landing phase. Overall, the landing was successful, with the aircraft achieving a good score and demonstrating a high level of proficiency in the landing procedure.
